Hi Clara YOU CAN DO THIS IS YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH. Today was my quit date and all I have said to myself since I got up this morning is I AM A NON SMOKER. I am going to use this phrase every time I want a smoke. I know it is hard I have had my first really bad craving this morning and almost tore my poor husbands head off. Hopefully all the cravings won't be that bad. There is strength here on this site, so keep posting.

Jekgbs, Well, I'm only in my 11th Day. I should stop saying ONLY because that's pretty darn good. I'm starting to feel a little better now but I still have times when I feel like I've been hit by a Mack Truck. This may sound weird but yesterday I told myself, "Okay, accept what's going on, stop fighting and dwelling, and stop waiting for a perfectly normal day to come without cravings or anxiety." Once I said that, I felt better and relaxed a lot more. I think we have to just accept that we're going to feel weirded out for a while because our bodies are healing. It may take some of us longer than others, depending on how much you smoked. But, allow your body to make that transition and don't put it on a time clock. Once I did that yesterday, I started feeling better. One more thing Clara - I honestly think that the apprehension/anxiety about quitting is worse than the actual quit. Clara - Don't debate, just do it! Never thought I could do it, but now I'm on Day 6 which is a huge accomplishment for me. Make a committment and start your new healthy smoke-free life today! Drink gallons & gallons of water, chew sugar-free gum, suck on candies, eat crunchy veggies, keep busy/distracted, stay glued to this site, and before you know it you'll be on Day 2!
