Just in from work, want to say thank you to all who answered with their support. Driving was difficult as I always had three smokes on my 35 minute drive. Trying suckers, any other suggestions. Just quit this morning, threw out smokes when I got home last night, slept for three hours and am wide awake now. I think I am physically missing my smokes and feel quite lost

Yo go, cc!! First day is definitely the worst. After that, each day gets better. Think about every 5 minutes placing that much more distance between you and your last cigarette. Good luck from one who is only steps ahead of you. peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 369 Amount Saved: $38.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 5 Seconds: 25

I woke up in the middle of the night a lot my first week, sometimes sweating, but that will go away. It is a big jolt to your system to quit but you CAN do it and over time it will get easier to sleep, breath, etc. I cut way back on caffiene and it helped me moderate my moods and sleep better this time around. Post a lot. Let us know how you're doing. Sleeping or rather, not sleeping, is so difficult. I always thought it would just be easier if I could sleep away the time, but nope, I couldn't sleep for at least a week. When I did, it was such a relief! So just know that it does get better, and each day gets that much easier. Now I'm wishing I could wake up a little, I keep sleeping too much! Oh well, this too shall pass! Welcome! Hi cc I couldn't resist reading a message from sleepless in Canada. Jan and I are from Canada too! The first week is pretty rough...I have 100 tootsie pops...would you like me to send you some? I survived on water, green tea, sour candies and cinnamon gum the first few weeks...trying to substitute grapes for the candies now. I no longer commute to work but I've heard that we have afew singers here and that they switch stations often and sing very loud when travelling. We need lots of tools in or survival kit...some like walks, the gym, bubble baths, cinnamon sticks, straws (on really rotten days, I prefer my comforter and my remote control) Good news is that the rotten days get better and that there really IS life after hell week! Congrats on quitting! Good for you, cc. Congrats on you're decision to quit. I too suffer from "Sleeplessness in Canada", from time to time. I am wearing the patch, and have some pretty wild dreams from time to time. That's ok for now, whatever works! Use the tools on the left as well, they help immensely. Hi cc, The first few days you will feel a little lost because you think you have nothing to do. So keep yourself busy, take a shower or whatever you want but stay busy. Icecold water is a great help too. You have to learn not to smoke, that's a little diffcult but so many people can do it, and you can too. Here's a hug :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 219 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,477 Amount Saved: 646.05 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 3 Mins: 18 Seconds: 57
