I have smoked for 32 years, started quits so many times, never making beyond 3 months, lack of will power. so on May 1st I am pulling all of the resources that are available, with the exception of any prescriptions, and over the counter gums and lozengers, because I feel that is still keeping the nicotine in my system, or switching one dependency for another. My reasons for quitting are many, but if I had to say "what is the most important reason for me quitting?" it would be " I want to stop poisoning my body"

Hi Birdy, congratulations on your decision to quit! Lots of folks here quit by the cold turkey method and it can be done. I was cold turkey for about 24 hours, then used the gum for about 2 days, and then like you, decided I really wanted to be done with all nicotine. You said that "lack of will power" prevented you from going beyond 3 months. I would like to suggest that amazing will power got you through 3 months, but then something happened. You got tired of the quit, or you fell for the junkie lie that just one wouldn't hurt you, or whatever. So you DO have will power. And you can use it to get through this quit one day at a time. Good luck and stay close!
