So wrapped up in Smoke

Mace, you are at the VERY beginnig of your quit. And yes, smoking was ingrained into every part of my life also. These "triggers" come fast and furious at first; talk on the phone, driving, getting off of work, taking a break at work or at home, having coffee, sitting with friends and talking, after meals, before bed, etc, etc, etc. All these actions were related to smoking. We smoked everyday, all day. It takes a while to break this mental association with smoking. BUT, you are doing it. Congratulations on being smoke free for 3 whole days. Just keep at it..freedom lies ahead! new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,176 Amount Saved: $245.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 19 Mins: 28 Seconds: 43

Mace I have heard if you can make a week you can have the enchilada. Try working through the SCC work book to get you started. It is on the SCC main web page. I know what you mean about smoking being everything to a person, many of us have felt that way including me. It is though quite possible to quit. Life without smoking is good. Mace, Time will make all of this go away for you. Along with a sprinkle of determination to stop smoking. Hang in there - it is well worth it if you truly want to be smoke free! When does it start to go away. Now it seems that smoking was my life. It seems that everything I do makes me think of a smoke and want one so bad. I guess I had never really known just how much and often I did smoke. It was a part of everything. So when does it start to get better and smoking not the the king of your life in every thought you have. I hear you both. I was thinking last night while I was taking a walk how ridiculous it was that I used to take smokes with me everywhere. I would have been smoking while I was walking, intead of enjoying the beautiful flowers in the yards, the fresh evening breeze & my own ability to breathe & walk uphill at the same time! And I CHOSE that, I CHOSE to smoke for 31 years. What a moron! I know exactly the feeling. Sometimes I even woke up in the middle of the night and smoked! Ignored my kids to smoke, was late to appointments so I could smoke, skipped out on some social functions so I could smoke..on and on. Thanks stickin for reminding us what that old lifestlye was like..it makes me so much more thankful for the freedom I am walking towards. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 47 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,128 Amount Saved: $235.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 12 Mins: 53 Seconds: 5
