I very much appreciate each and every word of encouragement, support and advice you all have given me. I promise to change my attitude and not think such negative thoughts. Deep down I know I can get through this. It does not matter when I quit,It will never be easy. As for feeling depressed/down in the dumps. I believe mine is all nicotine withdrawl for sure. I am usually a very positive cheerful person. I guess a good way to describe how I feel is like I just broke up with my first love, and everthing you look at reminds you of him. Kind of a mourning period. But I got over him, in a couple months. Hoping it will be the same with cigs. Looking forward to living healthy. I am back, and having a hard time again today. Sometimes I wonder if we set ourselves up for failure,Quiting at this time in our lives. We moved from Florida back to Ohio(where we are both from)And have been caring for my husbands parents with alzheimers and dementia for the past 7 years. It has been a stressful job,but they did not have anyone else to look after them. and I respect my husband for wanting to care for them and keep them at home. They have required 24 hour care for the past 6 years,in which we have provided everyday M-F,and have a care service watch them nights and weekends. On June 15th this year his father passed away. His quality of life at the end was sad,as he had severe dementia, But the main cause of his death was his COPD. He was a heavy smoker most of his life, and his lungs worked his heart too hard. His Mother is in the very advanced stages of alzhiemers, and to our knowledge does not know he has passed, which is a blessing for her,She adored him. She has been bedridden since Dec 27th,Does not recognize any family, and is only able to eat baby food. Sometimes I feel we are setting ourselves up for failure because We have so little to do during the days now. and it leaves so much time to think about smoking. I do so much better when I am busy. We plan to move back down south after his mother passes. Sometimes I think it would be better to try then, when we will have more going on in our lives. But I get mad at myself for having those thoughts of failing because I quit at the wrong time. Plus I need to think about my husband. He has been so strong and supportive during this period. I would hate for him to go through the end his life like his father did, struggling for air from smoking. He has smoked a lot longer than I, And hate to say it,but was probably more ready to quit than me. I need to stay strong for him also. But I still ask myself, Did I quit at the wrong time in my life? Hi Kerin. So sorry about your losses. Change your attitude!! Never think there would be a better time to quit, because as we all know, that day never ever comes. You need to be strong and resist the NICODEMON. It will play head games with you for quite sometime. Still plays with my head but not as often or as long anymore. Stick with your quit. It is the best thing you can do for everyone in your life, most importantly YOU. If you're bored come here often during your long days. Everyone finds it really helps to see you're not alone. Stay strong - stay quit. You said it perfectly, mourning. I too have felt kind of lost the past 2 months. The good news...it's getting better. Starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully it's a short tunnel). Hang in there and just remember you're not alone. We choose to not smoke anymore and in my opinion that is the best choice of our lives. Stay strong!!! Kerin ... you got it. Just like an old boyfriend ... one that you would never get back with. Just make sure you don't only remember the good times. That will make you sad. Make sure you remember all the horrible things about that ex, that way you'll never make the mistake of hooking back up with him. Glad you are still with us. Keep on keeping that quit! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Kerin, you did not pick the wrong time to quit smoking. Believe it or not that is junkie thinking. Nicodemon will try to rationalize anyway he can to make you think you should pick him back up again. Sh*t happens whether we smoke or don't smoke. The best thing you can do is realize your junkie thinking and put an end to them (junkie thoughts). Put the quit plan to action. There are things you can do 'stay busy'. No one said any of this was going to be easy. Most things worth having take hard work. How hard it 'really' is has a lot to do about our attitudes toward what we are doing. A good attitude makes it easier. A bad attitude makes it harder. As with anything ... the choice is always ours. Make the choice that empowers you and betters your life. We'll be here to support you.
