No more patches for me

14 years ago 0 1843 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Renee, I've read here that when you desire to quit is stronger than your desire to smoke is when you achieve success!  I quit cold turkey, and the day I quit I swore I would never smoke another cigarette in my lifetime.  The nicodemon knew from that first day that he was no longer part of my life.  Do what you need to do, NRT, Cold Turkey, or whatever other route you take.  Just remember that preparation is key to success, so be sure your quit plan under "my program" is current.  Post as often as needed, if only to rant and rave.  We're all here rooting for your success!

Hey Renee!!!

I like your tenacity!!!  You have 2 days under your belt now and all you have to do is live by NOPE!!!  Keep reading and learning and distracting yourself!  You have been with us off and on since I've been here and I want you to know that you really can do this...  I'm living proof!  You just have to keep it in your mind every time that nico-demon starts bugging you that you want freedom more than you want to smoke!!!  You do , don't you ???   Of course you do!!!  Keep on kicking ash!!

Renee,

No matter what method you use.  NRT  or Cold Turkey  only you can keep you from using nicotine.  I have gone cold turkey and it is working for me.  You will quit when you want to and when you are ready. When quiting is more important than smoking,  like when you are really getting sick and tired of struggling to breathe like me.  I hope you don't wait till it gets to that point. The decision is all yours you are in control.  I would also suggest that you go back through the program again.
That is if you want to quit.

Hi Renee. The patches might not be right for you, but they are also not the problem. My experience is that if you're going to smoke, you're do it regardless of which method you use. NRT doesn't keep people from smoking, and cold turkey definitely doesn't. I suggest going back through the program as Samantha said and starting over.

Hi Renee,

I am sorry to hear that you have slipped. Quitting smoking can be a learning experience, some strategies will work for certain and people and some want. Find what is going to work for you and stick with it. Work through the online program and make a plan of action. We are always here to support and encourage you.

Check in soon and let us know how you are doing.

No more patches for me. I blew my quit this morning and had a smoke! AHHHH! I'm not going to use the patches anymore. Its not helping for me. Besides I'll save lots of money not buying them! I just can't keep putting them on and then taking them off to smoke anymore. Thats not good, I could get very sick from that. I know. I just want to get the withdrawls oveer with,
