HELP

Beckylynn, Herbal supplements may provide great therapeutic benefits. However, it is known that natural alternatives are not always safe. Some supplements have been shown to interact with medications, cause allergic reactions or aggravate certain medical conditions. Furthermore, the safety of many herbal supplements for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding is not yet known. We advise you to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before commencing any alternative therapy. As far as your anxiety goes, you should know chemicals in tobacco smoke affect your entire central nervous system. Because these chemicals have been messing with your nervous system, quitting can cause a feeling of nervousness, which sometimes lasts for a few days. And, when your central nervous system gets back in line, you may find that you have a keener sense of smell, taste, hearing, colour and depth perception. Tips to help: Try relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing and exercise. Physical activity can also be helpful in expending that extra anxious energy. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. We also have a sister site that may be of assistance to you: www.paniccenter.net Have a great smoke free day! Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

I thinke Misty told me about it. It is a natural vitamin that increases your seratonin levels. You have to be careful though, I read that if you take to much of the B6 group in can stop the 5HTP from working right. Read up on it, but I was so depressed and I couldn't take any of the meds, then (i think) it was misty moonlight that told me about this natural anti depressant, it isn't perfect, but I honestly feel 95% better taking it. I got it at walgreens, its about$15.00, if your in the US that is. Kelly By the way, I take the XANAX and a few others too, take them, it will get you through. I always associate my anxiety with a major crave, I am trying to relearn that one. The doc gave me some xanax so I might as well use it. I take a b-12 shot once a week. Did it last night so it will be kicking in by now. But what is 5htp?

I know exactly how you feel. Get to the doc and get something for the anxiety, it really helps. I know how scarred you are, I was terrified, and still am scarred, but the people here are going to hold your hand, me too. You can do this, you really can. It is a fight worth fighting, sometimes it is so hard you think your not going to make it, then you have this wonderful day full of rainbows and happiness and you can see what your life will eventually be like everyday. You can do this Beckylynn, you are so like me. Cigarettes covered up my anxiety and depression and every other problem on the face of the earth. Take B12 and 5HTP, it really helped me out. But get to the doc for some meds to help you out, let them know how you feel when you quit, take all the help you can get and stay around here, we will all help, I promise. Take care..and don't worry, it makes it so much worse. Kelly (look at my name, anxious1, I know how you feel) ((hugs)) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 145 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,350 Amount Saved: $543.75 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 19 Mins: 52 Seconds: 24

I'm again attempting to quit. My husband officially quit on the 23rd. He is doing good, he has not had any since he quit. I on the other hand keep slipping. I am smoking one or two a day and today I have one left. I refuse to buy anymore, but I am scared to death that I will screw it up again and not quit. I want so much to do this, but that little voice inside keeps telling me that I can't do it. I get sooo nervous and have major anxiety over this. I thought the chantix would help but I am not too sure. I keep trying to look beyond the moment, but the moment takes over and I crack. I know that I am not the only one that has had this problem. I smoked for 37 years and it is like giving up something that worked for depression, anxiety, nervousness, boredom, you name it. It substituted for a lot of different things in my life and now I am kicking it to the curb. So now I have to find some other way to cope with all those things. I am trying eat healthy and exercise, my biggest problem is at work. I have not told anyone at work because I have let them down so many times. I want them to notice on their own that I have quit. So you all are my support group. Please help.
