Excellent, nonic. When we quit, we do have two selves -- the self that is still addicted (call it Little Self, Child Self, or Junkie Self) and the self that is moving up and beyond (the Real Self). Sometimes it is difficult to differentiate the two, especially in early days or during difficult times. The more we listen to our Real Self, the stronger that voice becomes and our Junkie Self grows smaller and smaller.
Or call it Big Me, Little Me. Little Me wants the cookies NOW. Little Me whines about what I can't get, or shouldn't have. Little Me blames others. Big Me understands that what I eat today shows up on my hips tomorrow. Big Me helps others instead of always seeking help. Big Me sees the big picture, the long view.
I love your threads!
