1st day not smoking

18 years ago 0 233 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
This is my first real day of not smoking. It is 4:30 pm and I am almost done with work for the day. This is my hardest cig. I always look forward to a smoke when I get home. I never smoked in my car or in my apartment, but I always go outside when I get home. I am (was?) not a big smoker. I had 5 cigs a day and maybe 7 on the weekends. Right now the demon is saying "Sure Valic you can have just one more" but I am sticking with N.O.P.E. But this is hard! I have been doing the breathing and tension exercises all day, and I am praying that I can make it through this night. I know I can!!! Thanks all for listening to a new comer! I will beat this! N.O.P.E. Thanks everyone for all your support! I made it through the night, a little sleepless but it was better than puffing! I have a huge headache this morning though, did anyone else have headaches when they first quit? When I got home last night, I went right to my eliptical machine and ran on that for 30 min. But I was still restless and couldn't focus so I took a LONG hot bath and had my book with me. That way I was for forced to concentrate on reading. Then I went to bed. But I still didn't smoke! Made it through the first 24 hrs. I am sure I will be in here later today though! I am glad I found this site and can vent with people who understand. Thanks so much! ~Valic My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7 Amount Saved: $5.3 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 2 Mins: 18 Seconds: 56

Oh well done on your first day Valic. I know how hard work it can be especially those first few days. All that i can say is to stick with it, it does get better, I am only a month in, and even though i do still have some bad times. Most of the time now i dont even think about smoking, even when i do, its more a thought than a nicotine crave. NOPE is great.. it works. congratulations on your quit. hi valic, welcome that was a tough time for me too in the beginning, when i first got home. early in the quit i used to go through a whole carton of sugar free popsicles to keep my mind off craving a cigarette. it worked, and it all gets a lot easier after a while ... not one puff ever! You have a great attitude valic, you are going to BEAT this thing like crazy!!! You are brilliant!!!!!! I quit smoking on July 6, 2006 at 6:00pm. It has been 6 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes, and 10 seconds since I quit. Had I not quit smoking, I would have: * Smoked 123 cigarettes (That's like smoking a 41 foot long cigarette) * Spent $26.27 on cigarettes * Inhaled 1.23 grams of tar * Inhaled 98 mg of nicotine (That's like doing 1,841 hits of nicotine) * Inhaled 1.35 grams of carbon monoxide * Taken an additional 18 hours, 9 minutes, and 46 seconds off my life

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Valic I'm sure you are home by now and are avoiding the outdoors. Please keep repeating N.O.P.E in your head and practice those breathing exercises often! The more you use them the better they work over time. You will need to put some time between you and that last sickerette but just concentrate on today. I was remembering a few minutes ago what I used to tell myself. "I am just going to get through today. I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY. Tomorrow I'll worry about tomorrow." Stay Strong! All the best~ N2k My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 326 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,192 Amount Saved: $1630 Life Gained: Days: 31 Hrs: 0 Mins: 43 Seconds: 7
