I am on my 17th day as a non-smoker. I can't say that it is always easy but I have two good things to say about it. The first is I was in my car at the bank yesterday and while I was waiting I decided to clean up my car. As I was gathering up the little bit of trash from the cubby in front of me I came across a cigarette. Everytime that would happen in other quits my heart would drop to my stomach. My reaction this time really surprised me. When I saw it, my feeling was more of being really annoyed and mad that it was there. I had no feeling whatsoever of wanting to smoke it.
My second story is this.. I was having kind of a bad day yesterday with craves and I was watching the news. They were talking about smoking and how they are restricting it in so many places now. They were reading email responses from the public. As I was listening to it all I could think was that I was glad I did'nt smoke anymore. It acually made my cravings go away. I really feel like I am headed in the right direction, although I wish it would happen faster. I guess we all need to realize that in the scheme of things 17 days, 3 months or whatever is nothing compared to years of smoking. We can't expect the cravings to go away overnite. If we know this I think the whole thing will be alot easier to handle.
