Non Smoking and NRT's:
My husband and I both quit 2 weeks ago, he went Cold Turkey, I have used some nicotine gum. I can actually say that we have noticed no difference between us, we both are still not smoking (not to say we don't still feel the WANT to part of it)!, but we are not going to~~ ever again! I know we are past the physical cravings part, now on to the mental dependancy of withdrawal. I chew 1-3 pieces of gum a day, and somedays, none. But, if life is stressful,(I am a full time caregiver) I would much rather say that I am going to chew a piece of nicotine gum than "cheat" with a cigarette. And, yes, I do feel like a non SMOKER..I am replacing that nicotine, but I am not inhaling it into my lungs. If this is what it takes me, I will do it. The info on NRT pkg. says 12 weeks of treatment, with gradual cutdown of products, I am sure I will do it in less than that. And, I am not sure why people think the government owes NRTS to us free. Maybe if they would just take all the cigarettes off the market, the problem might just solve itself. Think any big-money lobbists in DC will let that happen?? NO, but I do not agree that every program has to be a free government program. We are big folks, we began smoking on own own, so lets just all put on our big girl panties and deal with our own mistakes! ;) Hang in There and Keep the Quit!!!
