enjoying breakfast

I was thinking this morning about eating and smoking. When I smoked, my eating habits got to the point where I could almost define them as an "eating disorder". I would drink coffee from 6:30am until about 11am. Of course, with the coffee, I would smoke and smoke and smoke. I did the heaviest smoking in the mornings. I never ate breakfast. Sometimes, I would smoke my way through the afternoon and evening and then finally eat a big meal at 9:00 at night. Whenever I felt hungry, I would smoke. I cooked dinner for my family every night, but I can not remember being hungry when I would sit at the table with them. Never did I eat more than 2 meals a day..smoking was my sustinance. It is funny, because I was a stickler about my children eating breakfast. I knew that your body needed "fuel" in the morning. And, I always made sure that fresh fruit was a part of their morning meal. There was no sweet cereal allowed...whole grain breads, real maple syrup, eggs, fruit. What I knew for those I loved, I did not do for myself. What brought these thoughts to mind this morning was the realization that I was actually enjoying eating breakfast! Most mornings, I get to work a little early; we have a wonderful employee dining room. I would be HUNGRY. I could feel the hunger. I started out by having some cottage cheese and fruit. Then, some days, an egg and rye toast and green tea. Now, I enjoy eating breakfast. I cannot remember the last time that I enjoyed eating breakfast. It made me happy. Have great family or friend-filled fun, smoke free holidays.
