It's great to see you, Pat, and really inspiring to see how strong your quit is. I'm so sorry about your mom, but as always, you have the right attitude to turn even this difficult time into a growth experience. You and your family are in my thoughts and in my heart. Thanks for checjing in! Hello everyone, Wow I haven't been here at SSC for a very long time. Finally I have a little breather and time to come here to say hello. I've really missed you all and the fantastic support this site gives to it's members. Ok, the good news first: This really, really is my forever quit. I was/am a complete nicotine addict. I know without a doubt that I am stronger than my addiction. I am in fact so strong that this addiction has lost it's sneaky grip on me, so I :eg: stuffed it in an old suitcase, :eg: slapped a lock on it :eg: threw away the key and  stashed it into the back of my closet. Trust me, that ole demon's not getting out of the dark locked case ever again!!! :):):) Now for the bad  sad :( horrible :gasp: news: My Mom has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She's terminal. I've been living with her for the past 5 weeks and will stay until I'm not needed. It's been the most stressful time of my life (even preparing to quit and hell week pale in comparison to hearing the words "there is no cure"). Oddly, it's also been the most rewarding time to know I'm making even a small difference for her in the last weeks or months of her life. Being here is challenging but I'm so grateful not to have to go outside to smoke before and after spending time with Mom and the family. :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 324 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,960 Amount Saved: $4,536.00 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 7 Mins: 18 Seconds: 42
