Telling The Truth

Bear, I think it all depends on the frame of mind that you are in when you attempt your quit! I have quit many many times. I have had absolutely horrible quits, and some not so bad quits. Most of them were short lived. This one was not so bad, and moving along very nicely so far thank you. What frame of mind makes a difference? Having a positive, 'I can do this' attitude, preparing for what you will need, learning everything you can and being ready for it to be bad, just in case. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 199 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,975 Amount Saved: $2,099.45 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 8 Mins: 47 Seconds: 13

Bear there are those that quit and stay quit. My husband did and so did some other people. It has good for them and good for you. But as the world is filled with many different people, so are there many different quits. I have had a very hard time quitting. It is and remains one of the hardest single thing I have ever done. I have and so have other tried many different way to quit. I had some success, only to smoke again. If I had not been serious about quitting I would not have kept trying. Am I quit forever, who knows. I am quit today and that is all that counts. Be grateful that your quit was not as hard as it has been for others. Please don't judge us so harshly when we are weak and smoke. Those of us who have slipped feel bad enough already. To come back here is hard. That is the truth as I understand it. It has been bloody hard, Bear, considering I've been trying to do it for about 20 years! All that practicing paid off, though, because this one has been much easier than any before it. It hasn't been a breeze, I've had some really, really difficult times where the only thing I could think about was smoking. But it's so been worth it for all that I have gained. I think being able to focus on the positive & see quitting as a gift rather than a deprivation has made it easy. I learned taht form this site & all of you so thank you all for my relatively painless final quit!
