wow, mercy..mercy,mercy, me...YOU made it through the most difficult emotional and physical trial to date. You should be proud. I do not know much about medications, but I do know that you can figure this out. Webmd has a wealth of information. Gosh, I hope that you feel better now. You handled it like a champ. Take it easy the next few days and pamper yourself. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,872 Amount Saved: $390.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 18 Mins: 1 Seconds: 27

Mercy, That is what these boards are for. It's okay to reach out for help! You did the right thing by posting. Would strongly urge you to see your doctor as soon as possible or to call him/her. If your withdrawal symptoms worsen, go to the emergency room. Now that you've expended some much needed energy, it's back to basics with distractions & relaxation techniques. Remember, smoking or chewing on your nicotine gum will not make this any better. It may even make it worse as it speeds your heart rate, worsens anxiety and raises your blood pressure. Cheering you on and hope you feel better soon. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Mercy, I wondered where you were. I am with you on the Dr's when I quit chantix cold turkey, didn't know any better, I thought I was losing my mind, went to the Dr who gave me 6 weeks of anti-depressants (I never said I was depressed) and 2 different sleeping pills. I checked this stuff out, it is all addictive, has withdrawal, would have put me in terrible shape and I called the dr and said how could you give me this? I am not taking any of it!! I was so mad. Good for you Mercy, finding a way to push through it and resist. I am praying with you as you deal with this, and I know you will. Get lots of rest, get some healthy snacks in, good books and movies okay? Keep talking to us too. hugs!! Good for you, Mercy!! It seem like whenever there's anything very new or very challenging, the urge to reach out for that thing that always "buffered" us from reality get's much stronger. We have to be careful, and we have to anticipate those things as much as we're able. But Mercy, good on ya for meeting the challenge! Now, take a deep breath and feel good about yourself! The victory goes to you!! (and God of course) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 158 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,950 Amount Saved: $1,461.50 Life Gained: Days: 25 Hrs: 11 Mins: 49 Seconds: 6

HI, I'm still alive and not smoking. For over an hour it seemed as if it was going to be either or. I had been on a new drug for fibromyalgia and rhumatoid arthritis. It is called lyrica. I told you that for some reason it made me crave. It made me loopy...unconnected and not well. felt awake but not in the living world on this stuff. On top of that it really didn't help with the pain. It is as if I built up a tolerance to it. I had a whole host of symptoms on it. I freak-in quit smoking and didn't gain too much weight and I was packing on pounds in a couple of weeks on this devil's medicine. You can't just stop it...so I weaned off and there is actual withdrawl you go throug. I have spent two days sweating terrible...crying..jittery and feeling suicidal. Last night I went to bed at 9pm. I got through work and when I arrived home today and went beserk. I don't even know if I should call a doctor or go to emergency. I was so wound and agitated I began running in place till I just about colapsed and then began exercising my arms in anger. I finally hit the floor sobing hysterically. All I could think of to keep my head on straight was to smoke. I got up and began mowing my grass at a pace that would kill a navy seal.....ANGRY at my body for not getting better and more angry at doctors that dish out these medications to people. These doctors are nothing more than legalized pill pushers. I have now read that some people CAN'T GET OFF THIS STUFF. Thank God.....I mean I really thank God I have only been on it three weeks. I had three peices of nicorette gum in my drawer that I never used when I quit it THREE WEEKS ago. I put TWO PIECES IN MY MOUNTH at the same time...before I started mowing the grass. I couldn't start chewing it fast enough. I then started to cry hyesterically again and spit the gum out feeling as quilty as if I had lit a cigarette. I went out side and was about 5 passes across the yard (really big yard) and out of nowhere my son pulled in. He is out mowing for me as I write this. I can't believe he stoped. It is like a God sent him...like an angel arrived. I was almost hesitant to write this. I respect all of you and really want your respect in return and don't want you to think I am some wack job. I wish I could send you references as to my character. The long hall of quiting smoking along with this horendous medication I foolishly decided to take on the doctors recommendation took it toll. If I can get through this I am going to see a holistic doctor. I will never take this garbage again. There must be some way to get my immune system to stop attacking me. I don't know if it was craves...anxiety for being in pain....withdrawl from this medication...or I'm simply losing it. I had to vent. For the love of God (litterally) I don't want to fail now. I've come too far. I'm hitting the send button....so it will be too late for a retraction now. Mercy :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 202 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,040 Amount Saved: $902.94 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 14 Mins: 4 Seconds: 35
