Yeah, some states have laws now that companies can do this... some states still don't allow that though. My state is so hugely smoking that it hasn't happened here... but I expect to see more and more of this. Personally, I'm torn on this issue. On the one hand, if smokers think that they might not be able to get a job because they smoke, they might be more likely to quit, which is great! But on the other hand, smoking IS still legal in this country! It's not like nicotine is an illegal drug that impairs judgement! Another thing, what about people who ARE trying to quit, but are using NRTs! They still have nicotine in their systems, and therefore, would test positive for nicotine, even though they are doing something to better their lives and their health. Many people might think "well, if I'm going to get turned down for having nicotine in my system, I may as well smoke!" Like I said, I'm torn. Crave the Quit! It must obvious that I am a true Humanitarian Canadian because my first thought was "Now that is just down right discrimination!" I can't turn my back on smokers, we were all there just months ago, and they are people just like us who haven't figured out they addicted yet! Meanwhile, how do they propose to get away with that??? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 140 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,500 Amount Saved: $1,477.00 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 4 Mins: 42 Seconds: 5

I heard on the radio(Cincinnati)this morning that companies are now starting to hire non-smokers. The Cleveland Clinic is actually testing for nicotine when drug screening their potential employees! Companies are saying that non smokers take less days off work due to illnesses and take less breaks through out the day. Who da thunk... Another reason to be glad that we don't have to deal with all these smoking issues! Cause WE DON'T SMOKE ANYMORE!!!!
