Mr. Ed, Perhaps a few more carrots in the diet then? Don't worry though, I've spent the last five months or so wondering what "nonic" was because I always read it like "tonic". I only realized yesterday that it was no nic  My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1025 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20,500 Amount Saved: $4,612.50 Life Gained: Days: 78 Hrs: 6 Mins: 25 Seconds: 29

Good luck Dee! You've put a lot of time and energy into this quit, you must be serious. It was just a few days ago I was there too. It's not easy but it's all worth it and more. Martha, That is very worrying because I'm not sure the 3 of us are 'all there' if you get my drift. :8o: However, I see where you're coming from because I have been known to agree with some of my posts.. :p By the way, you've given me a good laugh this morning. I studied your 'picture' for a full 10 minutes before realising what it meant! all the best from a representative of the 3 Amigos :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 468 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,040 Amount Saved: 3,510.00 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 4 Mins: 47 Seconds: 2

Mister Ed, Good post. Cutting down before your actual quit date also gives you a chance to adjust to the habit of not smoking anymore as well as practice using your coping strategies as you delay. Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Mr. Ed, Mr. Phil and Mr. Penitent, I'm just curious. I find myself agreeing with your posts more and more as of late...if this continues, can I become an honorary Englishwoman? Did smoking somehow mask my own British sensibilities all those years? Your thoughts? I hear you..............awe yes...........the sneaking cheating game. Who hasn't done that? The sneaking a cigarette here and there while others think your still totally quit. Somewhere along the line you have to ask: "Is this about a phisod I'm creating or is it reallly about/for me? Until you realize you are only cheating "YOURSELF" will you realize it really is about "YOURSELF". We ultimately become "who" we chose to be. Cutting down never worked for me, either but I have seen it work for others. I think, if you do it as part of a plan, like Dee is doing (way to go, Dee, you're doing just awesome with your plan), it has a much better chance of working than if you just hope to cut down until you quit. Alos, I'm with Pen, whatever works as long as you don't smoke. My view is that cutting down just doesnt work .I tried time after time and landed up just counting the minutes until the next smoke. AND CHEATING!
