The Smoker who wore Patches

Cutting down is exactly what I what I've been doing for the past couple weeks. First I cut out the routine smokes like right after I ate or last thing before I went to bed. While keeping my chart I found out that I smoked about the same time everyday unless something prevented me. I tried changing those times and breaking the routine. My quit day is Monday, so I'm crossing my fingers this little plan has helped. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: -10 Amount Saved: $-2.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: -7800

Thanks Mister Ed, I gave up so many times that in the end I gave up giving up! That is until now, or May 2004 rather, when my desire to be quit was greater than my desire to smoke. Once that happened, the quit was on and I haven't looked back. I'm a really big advocate of whatever works for the individual but I would warn quitters not to get quitting smoking mixed up with other emotional conditions that they may be suffering from. I've seen some here who are on the wrong site. Some have embraced that fact and done something about it, others continue to deny it. If you are here to quit smoking, pure and simple, cold turkey, patches, gum, rationing, tapering, chantix, hypnosis, walking round blinfold with your hands tied behind your back singing "God Save The Queen" - whatever it takes to stay quit - go for it. Oh and come to this magnificent site for unparalleled support. Those who really need it, get it in spades!!! Well Ed, they are my thoughts - hope that's good enough for ya!!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1103 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,060 Amount Saved: 5,515.00 Life Gained: Days: 177 Hrs: 3 Mins: 52 Seconds: 27

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

... This is for those who are yet to Quit! I quit in February 2006. However, I made a pathetic attempt in November 2005. I won't say I failed because I never really started! Went on the patches and was OK during the day, but come the evening I would smoke 2 or 3. It took me 3 months to realise that I was never going to quit WITHOUT QUITTING! What I can say is that when I finally quit, I'm sure I found it easier withdrawing from the couple of cigs a day, as opposed to the 30 I regularly smoked. Now I'm not advocating smoking and wearing patches at the same time, but if you want to quit, you may wish to consider cutting down for a short period of time first, sticking to your agreed cigarette 'ration', and sticking to a planned Quit date. any thoughts?
