Wow this is a great site - and isn't Feb just the greatest month to quit - I thought about making it a New Years Resolution but knew I would fail at that - into day 6 now - using the patch which is helping - but my appetite is unbelievable - I could eat a horse. Reading the posts here help a lot!!!!!!!!! Hey.. I was looking for more ways to quit smoking and found this site and thought I would give it a try. I've tried to quit countless times for the past year and a half. I've been smoking for three years, and currently smoke a large-king a day. The biggest obstacle for me is that all my co-workers smoke. My roommate also smokes, and every time I see anyone smoking, I tend to light up as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Hi everyone. I have recently quit.. as of right now i haven't had a cig in 4 days, 23 hours and 28 minutes. I remember thinking i couldn't go 2 hours without one. Like alot of you i am starving all the time. And I am more congested in my chest then when i smoked. I do realize that my lungs are cleaning themselves out so its a good feeling when i remind myself of this. I keep looking for my cigs around the house or in my car or in my pockets.. and then i think.. I HAVE QUIT i don't have any cigs anymore. I am still trying to get used to this idea. It sorta feels like I am going thru a grieving process.. like i have lost a friend. but we all know that cigs are not the kind of friends we want to have. My mom died of lung cancer at 59 back in jan of 2000, and I have quit so i can be around for my kids. I am 41 and do not want to die a miseable death in 18 years like my mom did. sometimes i'm really scared that i can't go forever without a cigarette. I just keep taking it one day at a time.. and sometimes i'm taking it one hour or one minute at a time. And so far I have made it for almost 5 days. I would like to join your group of Feb quitters. Hopefully i can be support to others like your postings have been support for me. Hang in there everyone.. we can do it!!!!!! Thanks JessieMarie - it means so much to have some encouragement! The hardest time is when I get home from work...so this afternoon I will be using the tips that the center has suggested. I want to be an Ash Kickin Knight!!! So glad that you were able to get a good night's sleep...that makes all the difference in the world. Together we can do this! This support group is awesome! Hi Christine: Again, thanks for the support. I am so sorry about your mom and the rest of your family - it is scary to know that those tendencies are in our families. I am feeling stronger every day. My husband has been so supportive and I haven't seen him smoke since I quit - except while we were out. He is smoking but not where I can see - So that helps. I am feeling tired - but I know that the energy will come and my tongue feels kinda raw. IS that Weird?
