Quote of the Day Part Two

Acceptance is not worrying about something that is going to happen or not anyway.

I'm having some difficulty with a cataract that is partially blocking vision in one eye. I have a friend who has had partial vision in one eye all his life. If he can live a normal life then so can I. His Wife's Mother raised a family from a wheel chair. His first wife left him with three kids to raise. On and on. Our troubles are only as big as we make them. Sure they are there and sure they are not nice but if you take one small pleasant moment and dwell on it as it is without warping it then you can make all those troubles pretty insignificant. I'll admit it is hard to do when finances are involved but take the word from some one on a disability pension that is one quarter of his previous income, it can be done. Without the tears.
Life is what you make it.

Davit.

Ps. That may not work for you but you should try it any way. As for me a lot of what gives me pleasure and takes my time is free or very cheap. I also like my own company.

Hi Hugs,

I need some of those strawberries!!!

There's a quote from a recent book I've read, "Acceptance is in knowing that we are all just trying to survive."  I can't remember which book :)

Remind yourself regularly that you are better than you think you are. Successful people are not superhuman. Success does not require a super-intellect. Nor is there anything mystical about success. And success isn't based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary folks who have developed belief in themselves and what they do. Never - yes, never - sell yourself short.
- David J. Schwartz

I wonder if people who succeed aren't just people moving along in life with great marketing skills?  Donald Trump has a great deal of money, yet he can't comb his hair.  Ophrah Winfrey can't lose weight, despite her wealth.  The national rifle association has a lot of gunpowder, and probably more per member than any other organization in the powerful united states, but they can't assert themselves in any public forum, since their arguments are flawed.

Davit,

The original quote reminds me of people who trample on others

I have to disagree with this quote. I think it takes assertive into the realm of aggression.

"Believe and act as if all things are possible." Just maybe not for me so failure then is not failure in fact.

I was watching a celebrity singer on a game show called "the Voice", who stated, after a gaffe, that "...sometimes your mouth runs faster than your brain...".

The singer had said that Nashville was a state, but is actually a city, and he laughed at himself.  The gist of his delivery to a prospective singer, who he wished to join his team, was that he could help her success, and proceed outside of the area of country music, which Nashville represented.

The antidote is the quote from Shakespeare, which is "Haste makes waste, go wisely and slowly, they stumble that run fast".

Hi Hugs & Happy Easter!

That's a great way to prepare for some home renovations!
I find Spring is a more challenging time of year to be organized with my 'to do' lists
since there is so much more I want to accomplish, perhaps because nicer weather is also here,
one great reason to get out more, getting in shape, Spring cleaning etc...

Members, share your tips on how you prioritize/organize and stay on top of your goal or to-do lists.

Davit,

Following your quote, it might be that my problem is commitment.  A fellow I knew stated that we should figure out what we want, and then work backwards from that.  As simple as that seems, I just have this problem with focus.

I'll get some help this coming week as I begin a course on Home construction, so I can have some "context" while I prepare to get some estimates for a porch.

It just seems that so much is screaming for my attention, that  I find I get slowed down to a snail's pace.

It took millions of people to put those footprints on the moon. Some with their skill, some with their taxes. All it proved is that anything can be done with enough help.

Here is another quote for you. "Give me a long enough lever and I'll move the moon".

All things are possible, the key is to know when they are impractical. There comes a time when a person has to accept that something was a waste of time or is going nowhere and let go. There comes a time when a person has to admit they have done their best and it didn't or won't work. To have tried at least is good enough.

So many milestones on the roads of life. Some obviously are going to be on the wrong road. It is part of what makes life interesting.

Chinese saying, "May you live in interesting times". I certainly do.

Davit.
