Thanks Ashley!

Yes, that was it, Life's Purpose.  If you ever start a thread discussion about it, please let me know.  I read a great book about Life Purpose/Passion and I went through all of the exercises and found my groups were:  Art, Animals, and Music and I did in depth research of everything there is possible to do under each category.  Now it's a matter of honing it down to a few things to try :)  I looked up a lot of Life Coach websites and did some free on line exercises which were a lot of fun.  I also read other books that helped.  It's really interesting subject matter and I can't get enough of it :)  I'm impressed with your detective skills in finding the lost threads - you are truly amazing!

Hi Shari,

I found the threads! I used the seach tool - I was surprised how long ago they were posted! Feels like yesterday.

Anyways, here are the links to them in case you wanted to review them (you can copy and paste them in your web browser):

We did talk about life's purpose which is what you migth be refering to? The discussion series ended with the 5th post and sorry but I don't currently have anything in mind to add. What I suggest is perhaps reading the threads over again and possibly redoing some of the exercises. From there if you find something you are excited about create goals for yourself to take action now! You also may want to consider talking to a Life Coach Shari - it sounds like you really like Life Coach type exercises

Hi Wondertron,

I was looking for one post that has gone M.I.A.  It was one in the series of Ashley's posts called, Using Your Values as a Compass.  The specific one I was looking for was one that ended on the note of Ashley starting a future thread about Finding Your Passion.  I was extremely excited about that topic, but when the one Values post disappeared, so did the idea about starting a topic on Passion.  I hope since the topic has been brought up again, we'll see a new thread, hint hint.  I know I'm being real subtle here - ha ha.  I'd like to participate in that discussion, if it gets started.

I'm glad you were brave enough to post that the thread went missing, Wondertron, so you gave me the courage to mention the missing post I was interested in hearing about.  I hope to hear from you again.  You have good ideas :)

Thanks, everyone--your suggestions and reassurances really mean a lot to me. I was worried that I've somehow started off here badly, in addition to feeling bad about losing that particular post given its topic. Your kindness and explanations have put my mind at ease. Now I have to go find the guts to write it again; I hope by then you would not mind sharing your insights once more even if you've done so on the lost thread already.

Davit, you're very much correct about the importance of mastering rules and theory when it comes to expression. It seems paradoxical, but the theoretical framework is what sets intuition and imagination free.

Everyone has gifts in the form of talents. Unlocking these talents is what gives them expression. To do this you need theory and rules which you then apply unconsciously.

An example. Mix red and yellow and you get orange. This is a rule when done and a theory when planned. Once known you no longer need the instruction "mix red and yellow". It allows you to change the degree of orange by changing the amount of either colour. This now becomes expression and belongs to you. Rather than following a set of instructions that only apply to one situation.

Another example: A bolt has to have one and a half times its diameter in thread to have it's equal strength. Theory says two things here. A single nut can never equal the holding power of either the bolt or a hole threaded to the right or longer length. This is a rule. To use this theory when putting something together you now know you have the right bolt for the right application if it fits this rule. No need for instructions. The reason there is thread left over after a nut is put on is to support the last thread used. Another rule.

To open your talents you don't need instruction so much as theory and rules unless the instruction can be turned into these two so that it can be reused. Otherwise it applies to only one situation and allows no room for expression. Sometimes new discoveries are made by breaking rules intentionally and making a new theory.

Theory and rules being controlling things are stored in subconscious memory and therefore happen without conscious thought allowing a person to express themselves without actually having to think about it with all the frustration that comes with that.

Your Dad probably made things look easy by using these talents. If he was really good he probably kept the plans in his head and just did it. Imagination is playing one theory and it's rules against another to see what the result will be and ultimately becomes expression. I like to let the wood tell me what it wants to be and what it can be if I follow a few simple rules it will turn out. This includes planned disasters for the effect.

So what has any of this to do with a panic site? Simply that if you follow the instructions it will work but if you want it to work consistently you have to apply the theory and follow it's rules. No short cuts and no doing what doesn't work unless it is to prove a theory. This I think is where people go wrong. They want to skip parts of the equation and still get the same result. Like leaving the yeast out of bread. A road to disaster. I found this with most books on panic attacks. They only deal with instructions for one situation which will work if you only have that one situation.

I have a talent that also acts as a curse. I see three dimensionally. I can imagine quite accurately what the blind side of something will look like by going through all the possibilities. This is a hold over skill from a time when it was needed as a survival skill and we all know survival skills can lead to Fight or Flight which can lead to Panic attacks. Fortunately I can break the cycle before it becomes this. At one time I couldn't and suffered greatly for a good many years.

Hi Wondertron,

That's really strange. I have no record of any posts being deleted and I remember seeing that post.

We have been doing some IT work on the back end so it is possible a little glitch occurred? I will look into it. In the mean time if you ever notice this again please let us know. You can send any technical concerns to the feedback section.

If anyone else notices posts missing please let me know. This isn't supposed to happen!

Sorry about this wondertron!

Hi Wondertron,

I didn't notice that, as Davit says, your avatar looks like two pics.  What a rush I felt seeing this for the first time this morning

I went through formal education being told I had "gifts" which I've never found, nothing like what you and Davit do, and post.  Washing dishes, taking out the trash, shopping,  making my bed, doing daily exercises are my daily need, like many ordinary people out there.

It means a lot when you and Davit, and others with artistic flair let us share your talents

wondetron

I doubt that it was. I've seen a few posts go missing a day or two later with no reason. A glitch of some sort. Some were mine in the form of answers, and I think I answered yours. It is no reflexion on you, you did nothing wrong, but what a way to start off. I get deleted some times but it is usually for crossing the line a bit. Some one always contacts me if they did it intentionally. The only other reason is if you are advertising or prescribing. You can talk about medication if it relates to you but you can not recommend it. Same for treatments and here is where I have crossed the line some times with warnings about known hazards.
If you don't get an Email then post it again.

And definitely welcome to the site.

Feedback is in the tool bar at the bottom of the page and your comments will be most welcome.

Just a member but sometimes a bit radical. Love your Avatar. It looks like two pictures one on top of the other
much like the way I feel sometimes.

Hi sunny23, kaitie995, hugs4U, thanks for the kind welcome. Glad you saw the thread as well, so I didn't imagine the whole thing. Phew. :-)

hugs4U, that's a great suggestion; I'll try that if no mod responds here. Where can the feedback page be found?

Davit, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know that would trigger an email notification. Unfortunately, I just checked my account, including the spam folder, and didn't find anything regarding the missing thread. I'm really puzzled as to why the topic would be deemed problematic.
