Hi:  Back from my visit with family.  Had a great time, stayed up late most nights and now home again to relax!  I'm feeling happy and filled with love and joy.  I feel recharged emotionally and spiritually.

Coming home on the train, I saw some wonderful snow formations on trees, etc.  Never seen those before, quite interesting. Lots of deer and elk too.

Gotta catch up with everyone.

Hi Davit & Sunny,
I find ice and heat are great.

My concern about fees was tempered by his successive rates for future visits.  I do miss my old chiropractor, since he knows me so well.   It's hard to break relationships, but I have choices

Aspirin and it's relatives are anti inflammatories, Tylenol is not. If you are using pain killers, make sure they are the right ones. Cold for swelling heat for pain, alternating ending with heat is best.

Davit.

Hi Hugs:  Nevermind the fees...pretend it's a Christmas gift to yourself, well worth it.  Glad you found someone to help with your back.

They say shovelling and vacuuming are two of the worst offenders for backs.  It seems it's the angle that's hard on them.  I say heavy lifting the wrong way, that's what got me. lol

Good news today is I found another chiropractor, but his fees might hurt more than my backache...too late to cancel, I have a commitment

Thanks sunny,
My chiropractor must be off, so I just came home after the gym.  The good news is that I feel better, but toned down the weight training.

Thanks V,
I'm reluctant to get into the tub, since it's modified for use, so I just use a wand for a shower.  It sounds tempting though, and I'm sure the warm shower at the gym helped.  It's so difficult to find help in my area, so I'm going to tough it out.

I might be able to find someone for massage though, but it doesn't really help I think, until the inflammation reduces from a strain.

I think activity is helpful, and found it helpful when I hammered some boards into a veranda.

Hi Hugs,

Would you be able to hire someone to shovel the snow for you?
Having a sore back is indeed no fun.  I suggest taking a warm bath using epsom salts.  Epsom salts are rich in magnesium and is really helpful in relaxing muscle tissues!

Hi Hugs:  Hope your chiropractor appt. helps today.  Sore backs are no fun.  I moved heavy box the wrong way and it really hurt for about 4-5 days.  Every time I stood up or moved the wrong way, I would let out a little cry of pain.  Glad it healed!  I know I should have bent my knees before moving it.
As for the decision making re: your mom, it's not easy I know.  I don't know how old she is, or you, but as heart-wrenching as it is, it is hard on the caregivers especially if they have health problems themselves.  You're important too and you matter.
Saying a prayer for you and your mom,
Sunny

Hi V, normally what helps, is just following my "to do" list, getting out to the gym, but I had a setback when I rearranged some furniture, and my back is sore.  I'll have to deal with that, and what concerns me is there's  a snowstorm on it's way, meaning shovelling, and my back will take longer to heal.

Hi Sunny,
Those appointments are my doc's, so I'm on a cancellation list.  The bad news is that I didn't get my snow tires placed yet, and my back, as I mentioned, is too sore to move those around.

We see a specialist next week, to find out how mom's condition is.  As for my caregiving, I'm starting to question my capacity, and what's best for her, and will work it out with  a social worker, as heart-wrenching as it is.  I just wish my back was better, but the reality is that my health can't be perfect, and I have to factor that into the decision-making process.  I'm also questioning my mental health, since it might not be helping either, but the stresses you've identified are similar to mine, and make my coping harder.

Off to the chiropractor
