Bump!

How are you being present in This Moment?

Ashley, I'm glad it made me chuckle, as well.  I like when I can take a sort of negative experience and turn it into a funny story.

Hugs, I wish that the blogger had cited the original author of that quote.  She is a friend of mine who recently received a bone marrow transplant and where she has to be isolated for several months due to her fragile immune system, she's started writing a blog.  It's been very inspiring to read and yesterday's post seemed especially relevant.  My dentist has let us listen to music while he worked on our teeth since the Sony Walkman days!  He used to have a big drawer full of cassette tapes.

Good luck with your next visit - I think that best choice would have been a "Peaceful Imagery" meditation.  Next time, I'll know better - Well, hopefully there won't be a next time - Always remember to floss :)

Carmie!

I laughed out loud when I read this but I am sure it wasn't funny for you in the moment!  Glad you got through it with your sense of humour.

Hi Carmie,
That poem stirred my need for a hot dog with relish.

So I tried to google the poem, and got some heavy metal band playing.

No need for invigorating exercise this morning

As for my dentist, I can only have half a cleaning at a time, with needles each of the two visits.  I'll ask if I can take music..but they already have some radio station playing pop.

Glad you enjoyed as well.

Here is a funny, sort-of cautionary tale.  I was nervous about going to the dentist so I brought my ipod with the relaxation podcasts loaded onto it.  I chose the "This moment" podcast because it is one of the longer ones and I was scheduled for an hour.

Let me tell you that being at the dentist, having a filling - is not one of those times when you want to be "In the moment"!  The nice narrator's voice would say "Focus on what you can see right now" and all that I could see were two heads peering into my mouth.  "Focus on what you can hear" - lots of drill noises.  It is comical now - and it kind of was then.

So, sometimes it's better to be in another moment :)

This is a nice reminder to be present Carmie.

Thank you for sharing.

I just wanted to share that a woman whose blog I like to read posted the following today:

               This moment,
               Right here,
               Right now,
               Is all we have.
               Relish it.

One of my favorite meditations that I use for relaxation is also called "This moment".  It's what I like to listen to when I have had a stressful day.  It helps to keep me focused on right now.  My worries tend to exist in the past (regrets) and in the future (the what ifs).  So, I have found it very helpful to be in the moment and wondered if anyone else had experienced similar feelings?
