I read a lot. I love reading. It's one of the things that helps me cope.
I like to read fiction to escape, and self-help ones to cope.

Fiction: Maureen Lee and Maeve Binchy are my favourites.
Coping books: Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung by Ajahn Brahm, When Things Fall Apart by Pema Chodron, Feel the Fear and Do It Anyways by Susan Jeffers, Faith by Sharon Salzberg and Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach.

I've found that Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway, despite not having an evidence base, is quite similar to some of the Acceptance & Commitment Therapy work I have been doing, which does seem to have a good scientfic backing.

Hi Ashley,
My favourite are Finding Rest and Renewal in Our Busy Lives(W. Muller); Advent(J B Metz); Poverty of Spirit(J B Metz).  Reading these are like eating ice cream.

Thank you for starting this thread, since I'm doing some spring cleaning, and ranking is important, since there's nothing like having ice cream, if you lose your possesions on a desert island(and there's a working blast freezer).

Members,

Have you ever been inspired by a book? What books have helped you get through your hardships? Please share your top reads with us, so we can read them as well!
