I´ve tried immersion therapy before and it didn´t work.

I think what is different about this site is the forums. I have seen the course work before but I like the way it is laid out with real examples. I find posting on the forums has especially helped as I know I am not alone. I think though like with any program that it takes a lot of work. I read through the material once. Stopped. Started again many, many times. I just seem to need more practice as my mind naturally forgets :) I know it is a lot of repetition but that seems to be what our brains need.

Try it. If it isn't for you there are many other programs out there. There are a lot from Australia which are very helpful when used in conjunction with this site.

Keep trying,

Sunflower.

Sorry for the shake up, but I see you are still here. Yes this is more than immersion therapy. Immersion therapy teaches you how to relax and tolerate your triggers. Personally I don't approve of it. My preference is for CBT which eliminates the effects of the trigger not just build a tolerance for it. CBT changes your thought patterns from negative (scary, fearful, depressing) to positive. (non invasive, realistic) That simple. Relaxation techniques are necessary, as are coping skills and these vary depending on the person. Changing thought patterns can take a long time since some have been building all your life. Most people get some relief after the first sessions and if you continue it does work. And we will support you.

So welcome and I hope you do try the program. We will try to answer any of your questions that we can.

I understand what you are going through, I really do. And it is all first hand, not something I read about. Anxiety disorders are terrifying but need not be with the right information. And if you take that word apart you will see it is only that your thought patterns have the wrong order.
CBT can fix that.

I've read the testimonials from success stories, I'm not attacking the sites credibility, I was directed here from a local mental health institution. I've never tried any other online help center, only help groups, which don't work for me. I've also tried medication, I'm well aware it doesn't work. What works for one person, may not work for another. All I wanted to know was if this was more than just immersion therapy.

I get the impression you have tried a lot of things that didn't work. The internet is full of crap promising to do the work for you and cure you. All you have to do is pay them.

The program works as the members will attest. CBT is a proven. Both me and my partner are proof this works. But don't take our word for it. All we can do is give our experiences and all the program can do is give information, what you do with it is up to you and your capability. We will support you but we can not do the work for you. CBT works but it takes a long time and is ongoing for life. It is a big commitment that some don't want or think they should have to do.
There is always medication as an option but it cures nothing.

Time. I've read a lot of what this website has to offer, and it seems like the same old "step by step" immersion therapy. I don't want to waste my time doing something I've already tried and had it not work. That's why I'm asking if there's something I'm missing. If not I have to let my health care provider know this is something I've already tried.

D,

Welcome to our support community.  The program is free, designed by doctors and the members have raved about its success.  Give it a try, ask questions and post with us.  The members are what makes it happen!  They are supportive, anonymous, knowledgeable and they can share their experiences with you.

We look forward to hearing from you.

DV,
If it's free, what do you have to lose?  Look at the testimonials, and look at the insight of the resident doc at "the expert" tab above in his archive.  You'll find him inspiring, and that's reflective of the program.

I've tried challenging my fears and anxieties before through slowly immersing myself with what bothers me and it didn't work. Is this program any different or should I seek other help?
