I have to push myself to do what I know is good for me now because I am getting weaker and creakier too. For a while I just wanted to take it out of my hands. Just let it go and if I died so be it. Now is that stupid or what but there was very little to live for. Unfortunately it became a habit. One I have to break.

My biggest area of procrastination has to do with my physical self.... put off doctor, dentist, and eye appointments; put off exercising, getting my hair cut; put off practicing relaxation techniques; don't always take my medications as I should....  had not really thought about it, but I guess it is because I have no respect for my body... I am disconnected from my physical self.  That tack served me well long ago but is really stupid to continue doing now... especially as I get older and weaker... and creakier.

I'm not certain I'm procrastinating, as much as "choking" or "seizing" as I look at many things I wish to do, and waste time worry until time lapses.  I don't have the spontaneity that I wish I could use to do something, as opposed to feel overwhelmed and not doing small things daily.

Those small things might be as simple as going out, and enjoying something, since something was late or there was a change in schedule.  Today, for example, a contractor was late coming to the home, and I could have gone to a lecture, but chose to have an ice cream, log onto the panic centre and wind down.

I have been the king of procrastination for the last years. Result: I ended with a nervous breakdown and with severe anxiety and depression. I think it was my body saying it was time to change and stop the procrastination. I am a civil engineer and I was in a dead end job for 7 years. I know things are not easy right now with the bad economy in my country and abroad, bu it is time to look for another job.
After the breakdown last year I enrolled in a master degree program in business consulting and I plan to finish it on the next month. This program made me a better person providing me with more confidence and self-esteem.

I have a wife, no kids, but we plan to increase our family very soon with a son. My breakdown postponed these plans but now we are ready again for having a kid.

Hello!

Welcome to the 2nd Getting to Know Members thread.  If you are just joining us feel free to post your thoughts and say hello.  These threads are a great place to start.  The purpose of these threads is to get to know members as individuals and not as their disorder or addiction After all, you are not your anxiety!

The question for this week:

What is something you often procrastinate?  What is making you procrastinate?
