Walking

I am relaxed, we were relaxed. We were squinting into the sun. Still it was one of those moments when all was well with us and our world. It is a moment we have to hang on to as we will be apart for a while and I miss her already. I know thoughts of moments like these can keep the negative away.

Hi Davit,

I love the pic of you and Sunny you look so relaxed.
In regards to what you said below I know just what you mean, on a sunny Sunday afternoon a week ago its was warm with a gentle breeze it was quite as there was no hustle and bustle of work traffic and i was enjoying the walk and the smell of the air the breeze on my face and for that moment i thoughi feel fantastic this is beautiful it was almost like a drug it felt so good, I try and look for these moments in my walks, the other day it had been raining and was overcast it was about 5.30pm and night was beginning to fall, its was cold but it was beautiful the cool breeze on my face and the smell of fireplaces it was so nice

Something that is going to happen to you during one of your walks if you just let life flow around you, is that out of the blue you will get a moment when every thing is right and beautiful and clear and in focus. It hits you like a hammer because it is so foreign. I know the first time this happened to me I was on a tractor and nearly fell off it felt so good. I thought when it passed " My God I want more of this." It has since happened a few more times and each has been wonderful. A very good goal to work towards and the thing is it does not take work, all it takes is relaxation and happy thoughts.

I also find walking very useful but in order to appreciate its benefits, I have first to "clear the calculator", then walk slowly and look around me to the views without judging anything.

Walking is something in the cardio relm that I try to build into the day, along with a gym routine at least 3 times weekly.  Walking is less stressful on joints than some of the gym machines, and most seasons provide more stimulation than the gym with its music over a loudspeaker, and static machines, declining enrollment.

Hi Ashley,

I have been going for a half hour walk every day (except the last two as it is pouring) I love the fresh air and i feel very positive and good when i walk, i wanted to do it for mental health as much as physical and i find i am really enjoying it and i feel i really miss out when i dont go.

Members,

Did you know that walking has many positive effects on the mind and body?

It can be therapeutic
It can increase metabolism
It can clear your mind
It can relax you

Choose your own strategy!  What do you want walking to do for you?

Is it a coping mechanism?
Is it an avoidance technique?
Is it part of your exercise routine?

What does walking do for you?
