This morning I am working on me.
I am going out to walk again.
I will come home and have a healthy breakfast.
I know I will feel better about myself after this.
I am doing this for me.
I am worth it.

Sunny - I like how you explained the breathing.  It sounds like a good system.  And it's a way to take control of your body, rather than the other way around, where your shallow breathing takes over.  I think I will try this, too and be more 'mindful' when doing my deep breathing.

Red - Good job!  How is the walking going?  You can think of every step as a step forward!!!  What kind of crafts do you do?  I would love to have a craft room - can you organize one for me, too please?!! LOL.

I have started walking again to help reduce my blood pressure.
I finally finished organizing a room in the house for me to do my crafts in.
I have been getting a lot more sleep.

Hi Sam and Lucid-Dream:  The mindful breathing for me is making sure I am breathing in all the way and not just shallow breaths when I am all tensed up.  When I was getting light-headed and blurry vision, it scared me a little because, right away I wondered if it was my BP going up too high and my glaucoma acting up, pressures are high right now.  My opthamologist is on holidays so waiting for appt.  I have had laser surgery for the glaucoma  because I can't take drops (allergic to preservatives) and it worked well.
Getting back to the breathing, I consciously take a deep breath, hold it for a count of 1,2, gently release and try to exhale all the way.  When I inhale again I try to make it start from the stomach, chest then towards the shoulders, fill it up as much as I can.  Hold it again for a 1-2 count, slowly release and feel the opposite, the air leaving from the shoulders, chest to the stomach.  I might do this three times, then breath normally, checking that I'm sitting up straight to open up the airways, that sort of thing.  And I kept my eyes lowered as much as possible to ease the harsh lighting.  I didn't panic, just told myself to relax and it will pass, I didn't have to go home just yet, I was going to be just fine, if I felt tired tomorrow I could just take it easy all day if I wanted to.  So some positive self-talk helped too.

Awesome Sunny!!!!
Working through the panicky feelings (light-headed and blurred vision) and settling yourself back down is soooooo huge.  Keep up the good work because it does keep getting easier to do.  You will then be training your mind to realize that there is nothing to be anxious about.  Woo Hoooooo!

Hi Sunny123,

I am glad you were able to get past the light-headed feeling and blurry vision. How exactly do you do your mindful breathing? Is this similar to deep breathing techniques?

Went to the meeting last night and we had a guest speaker - took forever, I thought, (almost an hour) and started to feel light-headed and vision blurred, but did some mindful breathing (I sit at the head exec. table and I know no one even notices when I do this, so you guys can do it too), and the feeling passed.  Though the meeting was a long one, had lots of planning to do after the guest speaker, and have work to do today about it - phooey, as I wanted to get into the garden -  I remember about balance in my life, so will plan it so that I will take time for both making sure to take breaks so I don't get overtired.  And if I can't do it all today, there's always tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a good day.

Hello Everybody,
Well today has been a productive day
1.The technical staff fixed my connection for the quit smoking site so I am up and running there. I want to  say thanks to whom ever repaired it!
2. I also joined another quit smoking site.
3. I have been working on this goal all day and think I am making progress.
4. My anxiety reared its ugly head without nicotine this morning. One thing I did discover like Ashley mentioned is that it got much worse with nicotine and started to turn into panic.
5. I found out that it is the nicotine withdrawal that wakes me up every hour and a half which feels like panic. It is not the anxiety and panic its self.  I didn't give into it, when I awoke in the middle of the night several times like usual do, I got up had a glass of juice and saw it for what it really is.
6.  The last 24 hrs has been a learning experience for me and I have learned a lot about my anxiety and panic and some of the causes for the night time panic.   I am making progress on more than one front now and am feeling good about it.

Well thats all for now. I am a little tired, see you all later,

Red when this happens to me I have to log out and try again. I sometimes get stuck half way. You can try that.
