Thanks everyone for your kind wishes, Dizzy and Davit thats sounds like a great explanation and i think you are correct and it definately has taught me something, the doctors did right my meds up on the Friday afternoon and i will make sure i do so in future, i thought they may have to inject me with it as i could not keep anything down.

Ashley,

I have learnt that i never want that tube down my throat again and to try not to panic over the inknown as it is out of my control anyway

M - thanks honey i missed being here also and all my wonderful supportive friends x

Debit,

I am so sorry you had to go through this.  It does not sound like a pleasant experience at all.  I am so impressed by how you can look at this positively.  It is amazing that you got through this without anxiety symptoms! What have you learned about yourself going through this?

Dizzy, DEBIT.

That is it exactly. For those who don't have attacks because they don't know what they are they will tell you about the shakes and anxiety after a crisis or trauma, but not during it.
Good explanation Dizzy, I agree with you. That is how I see it.

Debi, Sorry you had to go through that, but it did show you the difference between normal anxiety and panic and panic attacks which are not based on anything concrete. I hope this will help you deal with them. If you have to be admitted for tests be sure your meds are on your list because in the hospital if your Doctor doesn't have it on your list in your file, you can't have it no matter how bad you need it.

Thank you for posting,
Here for you,
Davit.

Something to think about, I have noticed I my support group that we who panic do not have an attack in an emergency situation. Also we are less likely to have an attack when there is something actaully physically wrong with us. The reason I think this is so, is in both cases there is a reason for you fear and this is enough to stop having an attack. Panic attack are diagnosed when the fear is an disproportionate to the situation i.e. no reason for an attack.

Hi Everyone,

well i have not been on for a week last Thursday after vomiting and extreme abdomen pain for 20 hours i was admitted to hospital and they found i had a bowel obstruction then they told me that they would have to insert a catherta into my bladder and a tube in my nose and down my throat into my stomach to stop me from vomitting, i have to say it was one of the worst things i have had to go through, i could barely swallow and kept feeling like i was choking, i thought i would get it out the next day and just layed there all night counting the hours till i saw the dr, when he came around he said i would have to wait another day so again i layed there counting the hours getting IV of saline bag after bag and getting blood tested, jabbed with needle for blood clots, no food or drink still not knowing what the obstuction was, then finally on Saturday they came around and took out everything except the IV, they said maybe scar tissue wrapped around the bowel or Crohns but they dont know till i have more tests, that afternoon i got Jelly and soup and sunday i got a light diet just to test me, then finally today i was released, i have an appointment with the specialist tomorrow so he can advise what tests he will do.
The funny thing is i missed out on my meds Thursday and Friday and through the whole experiance even the tube (which was scarey as) I had no panic attacks and although i felt scared i did not feel anxiety, i dont know if this was because i was just so exhausted from the vomitting or if even though i was scared because i was in hospital i subconsciously felt safe???
