Welcome Steph.

I'm going to sound like a broken record but the program works. With or with out meds. Don't cripple yourself by trying without meds if you are on them. Do the program, use the meds as an adjunct and quit them after when you are stable. I know the side effects suck, but if they help you get through this faster they are worth it. You have to do all you can till the CBT works including going through days in a bit of a fog. It is better than going through them in a panic.
Again the program does work, just that some times you need a bit of extra help.

Here for you,
Drug free and panic free,
Davit.

Richard & Steph,
Check out the forum "Coping with Setbacks" from member "Suumer7" for  March 14's posts.  I'll assume both of you can search and find it, you sound from your backgrounds like you're both computer savvy, but let us know if you can't find the listing...it takes a bit of time to get used to the navigation of most sites, but they're all similar.

Summer7 is inspiring, since she talks about how she cried through the first 10 minutes of driving an automobile, for a 35 minute drive, but made it through...just as we can all make it through our particular phobias with supports.

Hopefully Summer is okay, since we haven't heard from her since:(

I mean it when I say this, I have the same exact problems. I have 4 kids and I don't/cant leave the house to pick them up or take them to school, so I feel your pain.  I am a writer/novelist, so I work from home and don't need to leave.  But the thing that I have realized is its not all about me, my kids need a dad, my wife needs a husband and so on and so forth. So I am going to work this program along with my shrink and get my life back.  As for the medications I have tried them all and have been on Paxil CR for about 3 years, don't think it works but don't want to get off of it either.  Xanax, worked fast but left me hung over for days, hated the feeling.  I now have Klonopin .025 dissolvable tablets you place on your tongue, they have been heaven sent, but I want to try and do this with as few meds as possible.  You are not alone, we can do it and the new job Monday will go off without a hitch, trust me.

Richard,

Thanks for the welcome! I need to get myself up and going. All I've been doing is sitting home, fearing that if I leave I'll have an attack. The put me on Prozac and it's making me sick, but I guess that's just my body adjusting to the new medication. I've had this problem for 3 years. I was on Lexapro about a year ago and stopped it when everything seemed to be fine. I was fine for 6 months after that, but now it's back and worse than ever! I'm also taking .5mg of Xanax as needed, but I try to stay away from it if I can because it turns me into a Zombie. I really just want to get better =(

Hey Steph, I am a newbie as well, and I have started the program and read the forums and honestly I can say I have found a bit of relief already.  I have all of the problems that you have and your not alone.  We will get through this together, contact me if you need anything or just want to ramble...Welcome aboard and hang in there...Richard

Hi Stephk22,

Welcome to the group!  Glad you found us.

I am sorry things are so hard right now.  So many members can attest that they have been in the same spot you are in now and now are feeling much better.  This program is proven to help, even after a few sessions.  Be sure to take the time and effort required to make this program work for you. Start by making a schedule of when you plan to work on the program.  Also, be sure to reward yourself once a session is completed or a goal is reached.

If you ave concerns about your symptoms or side effects of the medication it is best to talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

Hang in there, we will be here for you every step of the way!

Going through all of this, what do you want to gain from this experience?  What can you gain from managing anxiety and panic?

Hey everyone!!

My name is Stephany and I just joined. I'm battling with panic disorder and agoraphobia. It's so bad right now that I choose to barely leave my house. My psychiatrist just prescribed me prozac, which I started taking Friday. No help yet, but it takes time. I'm starting a new job Monday and it's very important. I'm terrified to go =( Hopefully someone will be able to help me on here. Life is very hard right now. Has anyone been on prozac? It's making me not sleep and giving me nausea, is this normal? I look forward to hearing from you guys. Thanks =)
