loves trees.

Very perceptive and you are so right about the difference between knowing something and really believing it.

I'm going to point out something different. Yes you did do it and yes you can do it again, that is what you expected me to point out right. How much fear was there while you were doing it?
How much memory of that fear are you bringing to today's situation rather than the thought that yes you did it? How much memory of that fear are you using to cloud the fact that this is a whole different thing and you now have experience and knowledge and it does not have to go the way of the past? How much are you using the past to influence the future. The past is to learn from not to fear, but fear is so easy to do. Being assertive and having confidence goes a long way to keep the past from influencing the present and future.
Congratulations on your achievement.

Here for you.

Having to pay for schooling on my own and support myself are real life events I went through that has led to anxiety about financial security on a regular basis.

Not knowing how I'll handle things like transition to a new job are imagined events that cause me anxiety.

This was a good reinforcement for the idea that there are things we can control and things we cannot control. I cannot control certain aspects of my future, so worrying about them is unnecessary. I've always seen the logic in that but only recently been able to tell myself to believe it. Knowing something and believing it are two different things.

Before someone else points it out (as the moderators are very good at doing) I did succeed in putting myself through school and supporting myself when needed. My anxiety stems from 'what if's' that are discounting the reality that i did succeed and gave myself a measure of financial security today through my own hard work. Anxiety can help us ignore our strengths and resiliences (i've been on the site long enough to know that somene will point out how i did get through those times and would be able to again if needed).

My husband working on and off and me having to be the constant stable worker and pay all the household expenses has contributed to my anxiety and i sometimes worry that something will happen to me and he wont be able to look after our daughter

Hi,
my anxiety is triggered by needing to wake up and get my kids aged 1 and 3 ready for daycare. I struggle with my role transition from stay-at-home-mom to working mom.

Members,

Panic attacks, phobias, extreme shyness, obsessive-compulsive behaviours and generalized anxiety disrupt the lives of about 15% of the population. Yet, anxiety is a normal part of human experience. Anxiety disorders are therefore the result of severe or extreme levels of anxiety and associated unhelpful or inappropriate behaviours.

Everybody gets anxious at times – to the average person this may be to perspire profusely at a job interview or to blush when they like someone, or freeze when they see a large spider. These are common anxieties and they may be part of our biology, how humans developed and a built in safety mechanism.  Today humans face many unexpected surprises and this anxiety mechanism can develop into our worst enemy.

People with anxiety disorders will find that their anxiety is a constant and dominating force that severely interrupts their quality and enjoyment of life and goes far beyond mere occasional "nervousness". Anxiety can be triggered frequently, both through the occurrence of 'real life' events, but also through imagined, negative consequences.

Please think about some ‘real life’ or imagined events that have contributed to your anxiety.
