Hi Brittany,

It's normal to continue to feel negatively about a situation despite 'thumbs up' from the experts.  I encourage you to see this as a learning opportunity rather than a set-back.

What are your next steps? What can you learn by reviewing what happened early last night? Also, this might be a good time to pracitce some positive thinking about how well you've come through this event! TassieMatt and Sunny have good suggestions and feedback too.

It might be helpful to read the Tool Box section of the program, and read the information entitled "Challenge Anxious Thoughts with Ten Questions", as well as "What to do if Fear Returns?".  They might help put this in perspective and allow you to get back on track. I am confident that you can move forward!!

Hi Brittany:  So sorry to hear you went through that.  Must have been frightening for you and your parents.  Glad to hear that your body is in good shape and that it is your anxiety causing this.  That, believe it or not, is the good news.  Although it takes time, anxiety can be healed.  I'm hoping your doctor can help you out with the CBT program, maybe you may need meds. to help you through this rough beginning so you can relax to study the program.  I'm not advocating taking meds or anything like that.  I just know that they can help a person get over the hump.  pls. know that we are here to support you whatever you decide with your doctor.

Hoping you feel better today, Sunny

Hi Brittany,

So sorry to hear.  That must have been horrible for you.

I haven't been doing great over the last week but the one part of this whole panic program that gives me the most comfort is the myths section.  When I'm feeling anxious I try to remember that some of the things I fear the most just simply aren't true and can't happen.

I hope this setback doesn't stop you progressing through the program.

Cheers,
Matt

I was starting to become fearful last night. I collapsed. I really don't want to go into it in much detail.

I collapsed in the bathroom. Parents found me. Stayed unconscious for about 30 minutes. I got picked up by an ambulance, they did tonnes of tests on the ambulance and in hospital, and deduced that it was brought on by anxiety, as I am not only healthy, but my body is in 'excellent' shape.

This is a big set back. The fact is, they've given me the all clear under hospital conditions, so I should start to worry less, but I'm still anxious, still fearful.
