question about role transitions

davit,

yes you are right, i cannot change things i have no control over.
but i don't know how to stop feeling hurt and upset over these criticisms and
negative comments my family makes. like i said in the previous comment,
i am a sensitive person and working through the session 'shyness and sensitivity' in
this program, i am still unable to stop feeling hurt.

 hi davit,

it shouldn't matter since i'm happy, but the thing is, i'm a sensitive person
and the things that they say are hurtful.
and yes, i would say they are negative because they keep pushing me to do
things the way they want me to, instead of accepting that this is how i do things.
if i politely say no, i'm not going to do things they want me to, they continue to
criticize and badger me and tell me i'm being a bad daughter or i'm being immature.
for example, my mother was criticizing my appearance and i told her in a
civil manner, i'm not changing it and please back off, i'm an adult and i make my own
decisions. despite this, she continued to criticize me and then went on to criticize other
aspects of my personality and my life.
my family has continually criticized me and when i do not do what they say, they
find some way to manipulate me into doing it. i have not found any way to resolve this.

This is different but interesting, there are a hundred questions that come to mind, but only two I will ask.
Are they really negative or is it how you perceive them and if you are happy with you does it really matter.
There are things we do not have control over. Trying to change the unchangeable can be very painful. Is it worth it. (not really a question)

hi,

I am wondering about how to deal with the fact that my family is acting negatively towards
me because of a transition in my life. They say demeaning things to me and tell me to act and be
a certain way, even though I am really happy with who I am.
I have tried explaining to them that they have to accept who I am and that they cannot
control me. I even thought about not having a relationship with them.
