Bad experiences with exposure

14 years ago 0 659 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Pounce,

I would take Davit's advice.  Also you may have been sent a email explaining the reason why your posts were deleted.  That has been my experience when I have had  posts deleted.  Check your email and if you don't find a answer than I would do as Davit suggested.  I know this hurts but Please don't let this discourage you from posting. I also have agoraphobia and I know it is not a easy condition to live with.  If you need help dealing with certain people maybe you can try rewording your post and see whats happens.

Hang in there,
Red

If you go to the bottom of the page there is a place to contact the moderators and ask this question, they will contact you personally. I am merely a member as you are. So this is all I can do to help they will have to give you a reason. There are certain things you can not put in your posts, this could be why.  Others have been deleted for breaking the rules, don't leave just modify your posts so they fit the rules and try again.

Here for you.

Curious as to why some of my posts were deleted :(

I really need help about agoraphobia related to certain people, and like 4 of my posts are gone?

Hi Davit, you are so awesome. I really appreciate all of your support. It sucks so bad that your artritis is bothering you and that it's gotten so bad. I get joint pain so I started taking colligen suppliments for my pre-arthritis and it helps - can you think about trying that? Don't forget to press control+a, control+c or command+c (and a) on a mac to copy everything you write and select it while you are writing. That way, if you get logged out you will still have everything copied to the clipboard.

I'll try my best to not let it effect me. I'm terrified of calling them to try and get the charges reversed - but I am going to try. Everytime I think about the phone I start shaking. It's one of my biggest fears - and I used to be a top sales person on the phone !

Ashley, I guess I would want to take from it, that I can't get disappointed when people betray me because bad people are just part of life - and that I can't let it get me down. I've been trying to do the lessons but my internet is really slow and they keep freezing. Does anyone have advice on what browser to use? firefox on mac is failing me!

There is no such thing as failed exposure, You didn't die you just got set back. It is still a learning experience and you know it can't kill you, just make you uncomfortable. The positive thing is you learned it was more than you could handle at the time but you are OK now and you will just have to work up to it. Every failed attempt is still a positive because you tried. they are only failures when you quit trying. Then you need to kick yourself in the butt and try again even if you quit right away. You also need to consider that you need more work on relaxing and coping. I've been there and survived, you can too. Reach out your hand and find me I'm there with you, only not in body, but I am there. ( seriously, close your eyes and reach out with your mind and close every thing else out). (don't do it driving please pull over)

There for you.

Jaguar -

I'm sorry to hear you had such a bad experience! Try to protest the charges - if you are persistent and kind they will likely reduce the bill even more. I recently had something similar happen with my internet bill and had some of the charges removed.

Although this happened right after you went through the exposure, it's important to remind yourself not to link the two - just because you faced your anxiety doesn't mean something bad will happen to punish you! This was just an unfortunate coincidence. I know what you're feeling, though, because I've had some bad experiences with exposure work, too. If I go out and have a bad panic attack, I feel like I'm just making things worse rather than working through the anxiety. I guess the important thing is to not give up and just get back out there as soon as you feel ready.

Good luck,
Teebs

Jaguar,

I am sorry that this has happened.  It is unfair and simply wrong!  It actually made me angry to read your post, that a company would do that to someone.  With that in mind however, what do you want to gain from this experience?  What do you want the gift in this experience to be?  I know it can be hard to try to learn something from this but don't let this beat you.  Stay tough!

I have a three gig air card and go over every month but only a few dollars. (usually 125.00 0r around that a month.) I can not watch much Utube or down load movies. But I can type lots. And email with pictures and there is a thread to keep track of usage. It is the only high speed in my area. I have a similar problem, but it is medical. The harder I try, the more I pay. Very depressing.

Here for you.

Okay, so I have been trying to do exposure on my own.

I went out and I got a 3G internet card. I was told that it was unlimited, so I hooked it up with AT&T.  So I could get back to work (It got to the point where I wasn't working at all, had to force myself). Today I logged into AT&T and saw I have an $850 bill for the data usage, and they lied to me about it being unlimited. I'm completely terrified and paralyzed. I got myself to go out of the house today, and go to an actual external appointment for work to build a website. It was terrifying. Then I got home to get this news. I was planning on going out again, but all I want to do is sleep now and curl up into a ball. AT&T told me that the term said 5gigs, and it's not unlimited, but I know I asked them like 5 times to make sure that it was - they lied to me now I am getting punished. They said there is nothing they can do but take $30 off the bill. I feel really sick and like a failure - I don't know what to do. I didn't even barely do anything but look at youtube (my plan to work didn't really go that well, but I did get some stuff done)

Does this happen to anyone else? When you try to get yourself out into the world, and then conquer your agoraphobia, and then you get severely punished?
