I also hope that you have a wonderful visit with your family! It will be great to see them for 6 weeks! Lucky! The plane ride might be a long one, but pack your nifty travel kit and away you go! As i mentioned earlier the sleep mask is a must have and even one of those travel pillows can really make your experience that much better! If you are going to wear sandals on the plane, I also bring a pair of socks...in case my feet are freezing I through my socks on.. It's all the little things that can make your travelling experience that much better!

 I hope you have a wonderful visit with your family in the U.S.
I really don't have any knowledge about travels on airplanes...since I haven't been on one in almost 20 years...but even in my everyday life I use the coping techniques I've learnt here to make me calmer..sometimes at work I pretend  I'm doing paperwork for a few minutes when I'm actually writing the challenging questions out. Someday I hope to be able to travel panic free., and I can see these items being very handy. I too enjoy a good crossword puzzle.

Hello everyone, 

Thanks for reading my post and looking at my kit. It doesn't cure anything, but it often helps me when I am feel that I am at my breaking point and especially if that happens away from home. It helps me cope a little to have things around that are meant to make me feel better. :) In fact, in two days I will be leaving Australia to go home to the U.S. for six weeks to visit with my family and I will definitely be taking this stuff with me. I already have it ready to go. Sometimes little things like this can make a little bit of a difference and that little difference is sometimes all we need to pick ourselves back up. 

Anyone else have anything like this or things they take away with them to help them manage anxieties?

What a great little kit you have going there! I really liked reading this post, I think it's important to have a handle on your needs and what basic items will help you. 
 
I love crossword puzzles, for a while I stopped doing them. But I've gotten back into it and it's been great. In my kit, I would also include a sleep mask, no matter where i am I can have darkness to sleep.

Thank you for the great idea of a "Panic Travel Kit".  This is an amazing coping mechanism and can help with your exposure and situational panic.
 
We encourage everyone to make their own "Panic Travel Kit" to assist them and to help progress.
 
Take the time to look through the tips and tools as well as the program to begin to understand what is going on.  The program is very useful and can become part of your "Kit"!

G'day mates!


As someone who sometimes suffers from panic attacks and is not ashamed to admit it, I find that I have certain items that I like/need to have in the event of a panic attack when I am away from home. I find that the worst attacks happen when I leave the country, but they often happen while on home territory as well. To help me cope, I have had to develop a plan in advance and bring some things that can help get through it. Any of you have anything similar?


These are the things I bring with me when I travel:


-Lightweight shortwave/fm/am radio (this helps me not feel so isolated and keep up with what is happening with the rest of the world and listen to music as well)

-logic/puzzle books (helps distract me by forcing me to use a logical part of my brain)

-a couple of photos of friends and family

-an engaging book or sometimes a little prayer book

-handkerchief that smells nice like lavender

-panic attack reading material so that I can remind myself that I am having a panic attack and nothing worse

-my tiny ipod shuffle filled with guided meditations, calming music and guided breathing exercises

-and panic meds, of course!


I'd love to hear from any of you that have anything similar or items of comfort that help you feel more secure away from home.
