Hi Laura,
welcome to the site! Nice to meet you.  A lot of people had a hard time to understand for me too and this site saved me a bunch and I hope it does for you too. Just keep venting and learning. You're doing great.

I'm late as usual. Laura, the same thing happened to me as far as the hospital visit. I too am new to anxiety. I have discovered quite a few things about my anxiety over the last few weeks through this program and it has helped me keep it in check. In addition, everyone around me felt similarly to your situation with work and husband, and the people here have been my encouragement. I'm trying to take the time to share with my family and friends what I have learned. In addition, I have told my family and friends what the therapist said about me having the anxiety and it helped. Now, when I get a bit edgy people are aware of it and actually work to remind me that I'm getting worked up.

Again thank you everyone for the positive feedback. I just finished reading session one. I am hoping to become active in posting. Everyone is so supporting. I feel like everyone at work and my friends just think im crazy and that I should just get over it. But it is going to take time I understand that. So far just understanding more about panic is helping a lot. I am going to get a few books for more understanding. I havent found a counselor yet. i am having trouble finding one I can afford. Hopefully soon i can find one. I look forward to posting and working with all of you. It's nice to know that I am not alone.

Laura,

Welcome to the program and support group.  It sounds like you are having a hard time now.  It can be hard to post and that takes courage.  If you can work the program a little bit each day it will help you.  It can seem like it is taking to long time.  It just takes time and finally you will notice you are getting a little bit better, and it will get better and better.  Try to be patient with yourself and take all the time you need to work the program.  I have been working the program since January and I have improved a lot in the last 4 months.  I didn't notice it at first and then I found myself improving each week.  Posting also helps a lot so keep posting and working on the program a little each day and you will get better.

Welcome Laura,

I am sorry you are going through such a difficult time now.  I can hear you are feeling very frustrated and upset right now. Please know that this is not your fault. Also, know that panic is very manageable and the program will help. Stick with it and you will notice a difference.  Also, be sure to post often.  We have an amazing group of people here supporting each other and now you are part of the family too!  You are not in this alone and we understand what you are going through.

I have to say thank you for having the courage to post here.  It is not easy being open about this but you are reaching out for help and that takes strength.

What session on the program are you on?  Have you found anything particularly helpful yet?

Hi Laura,
Welcome!
Have you started the program yet? When you get to the 10questions/negative thoughts section you will really see how helpful it is..well at least I have...All  of us here are in some stage of "recovery" from anxiety and panic. I'm pretty new here too, and am a  military spouse , I've moved alot over the years. But I'm Canadian and I'd guess alot older than you... I started with anxiety in my early 20's, but didnt know what it was.. . good for you  for realizing what it is and trying to help yourself! I totally understand your feelings and situation.  I beat myself up for not being able to control my fears and kept thinking I should be able to...it doesnt work that way. We have to accept it, and go along with it, then it will not interefere with our lives. Its hard, but I see that now.  Have you been taking the same med for four months? Maybe its not the right one for you? There's lots out there to try. Do you have a therapist?
You are not weak! You are brave! You can beat this thing!
Here for you,
Cleo
