Hi Kittrij
Ashley is right. It is up to your doctor to make medical decisions. But I can give you some information that will help you talk to the Doctor. Six weeks is plenty long enough for you to have become stable. Zoloft is an SSRI. There are lots of them and each is geared to depression with added problems. In this case OCD. They work well for depression and subsequently as an add on anxiety but not always so. Your doctor may decide you need an anti anxiety also.
There is a small percentage of people that just do not do well on SSRIs. (15%) of which I am one. SSRIs work on seratonan. Tricyclic anti depressants work on dopamine instead and for those that SSRIs don't work TCAs usually do.
TCAs are more mood stabilizer. For me they work wonders. There are still other drugs but these are used first.
Relapses are normal. They are caused by you not the medication. You go along feeling fine but your mind says fine is not normal for you so you start looking for reasons to not be fine. And sure enough you find them.
What ever drug you take is still only a band aid. You still have to do the program or something very similar. And you will see here that people that stick with the program are getting cured. You will see that some are still on meds, some are not. You will see also that they don't all take the same meds. Your doctor may have to try you on different things before the two of you find something that works.
Will you get better? No reason you can't, I did. How well you get depends on how bad you want it and how hard you will work to get it. The program works. What doesn't is certain people that just don't try. I firmly believe any one can be cured.
We are here for you. You can bring any concerns you have here and we will help as best as we can. You can talk about any thing. You can yell, you can scream or you can cry. We will still be here for you. This is a good place to vent. We have all been through something similar to you.
Welcome to the group, and know you are welcome here.
Davit.
