Welcome Joylynne,

You have come to the right place for help and support.  This is a great program.  The educators will help you with the program as will the member of this support group.  We all really care about each other here.   You mentioned that you had some of your family members pass away this last year.  I wonder if this has set off your anxiety? Just a thought.  There are some good books out there on grief and the grieving process. There are also support groups for grief that are held once a week in many cities across the country. The organization Hospice has many and they are very good.  I found them a great help to me during my grief.  I thought I was losing my mind with the heart palpations, anxiety and not being able to sleep.  I found out that I was going through the grieving process and these sensations were what they called waves of grief and were quite normal when you lose someone you love.  If you think grief might be causing you a problem you might to check it out the things I mentioned above.

Hello Joy and welcome to our online community!

Thank you for sharing your story with us. As you can already tell from the warm welcome here you are surrounded by individuals who have had experiences similar to yours. From reading a little bit about yourself, I can tell that stress definitely had a role in this. Take the time to read through the forums, and use the tools the program has to offer. Focus on the relaxation techniques and see if these help your situation.

Come back often to let us know how you are doing.

Welcome Joy.

My name is Davit and I too have other medical problems. I have Arthritis and artifitial knees and seven fused vertebrea. and on top of that I have mild Hypertension so I too used to think I was having a heart attack when I panicked. On top of that I can only sleep on my left side so I would really freak when my arm cramped. Notice the words "used too". Any panic I get now is so mild it doesn't count. If you are looking for help you have definitely come to the right place.
I can not use SSRIs so my recovery has been faster. (no crutch) I have valium which I very seldom use also.
I use Ginger Mint tea for the stomach problems, like bloating and mild pain.
I am also a member on the Road Back Foundation site. (arthritis)

Hello all! My name is Joy . I'm 38 married and a mother of 2 teens.  I have been suffering with anxiety and since July of last year major panic attacks. I used to be able to control my anxiety thru talking to myself (strange but it worked for me at the time) I was under alot of stress at work along with the death of my grandmother ( I was there when she took her last breath) Gallbladder surgery and the death of my niece's 7 month old son set my nerves on a roller coaster ride. I think I had a nervous breakdown in July. I went to the ER twice thinking I was having a heart attack. At the time I was also alot of indigestion. My doctor run some tests and came up with gerd, hitial hernia along with esphigal spasms. So with all that and the panic attacks my chest pain  was extreme. Scared me so bad I layed around for 2 weeks, I did see a stomach doctor cause I was convinced it was my heart and since my regular doctor wouldnt send me to a cardioligists I was determined to get the other doc to send me there in which he did, I had a ecardiogram and a thallium stress test all came back normal. Bu to this day I am always afraid im going to die of a heart attack. I have also developed left arm and shoulder pain which they think maybe carpal tunnel . I also have spinal stenosis and arthritus in my lower spine .I have a host of health issues right now and I think alot of it is getting worse because of the issues I have with my nerves. I cant take any stomach meds except zantac and carafate as the others make me sick and cause the indigestion to be worse. I also have been on a host of meds for nerves all of which I have gotten the worst of the side effects. All I take now is half of a  0.25 dose of xanax as needed. I cant find a med that I can tolerate the side effects.
I am looking forward to any suggestions anyone might have. I work  most of the time I have to make myself go. My sleep has been affected . I am finding myself thinking about every little ache and pain I am getting and thinking the worse. Like today my thight aches and automatically Im thinking blood clot uggggg. Wish I could train my brain to stop all this non sense.
Thanks for listening take care all !!!
