positive affirmations

14 years ago 0 5 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hello everyone! i was wondering if there were some positive affirmations anyone uses while they are experiencing a panic attack. i noticed the very good one from above "this too shall pass" and that wonderful quote from maya angelou(from diva). but what about when your in that panic attack  phase when you are having a hard time thinking straight. is there something that you tell yourself then to comfort and possibly ease your fear? i have a hard time keeping my thoughts together during a panic attack all the negative things just surge my brain and it becomes too hard for me to think positivley.

help & thanks!

You know what I use when I'm having anxious thoughts?  I tell myself that I WANT to be where I am at that moment, and doing what I am doing right then. I also tell myself that I deserve to have things that make me happy.   Since so many of us have attacks or fears related to being outside in the world, I find that reminding myself that I'm only hurting myself by avoiding fun things, really helps.

My husband is starting to fear going to the store with me! I've become so much more comfortable that he cant' get me out of there and I'm so excited like a little kid to be shopping again, that I'm buying too much! :)   That's the one thing I've noticed and use in my affirmations, that it's FUN not to have anxiety or panic curtailing my life.  The joy I feel when doing ordinary things is boundless.  I find that just saying affirmations to myself in a static situation does not help me, they have to be when I'm actively trying something.  If that makes sense.

When I get very anxious or I have a panic attack I tell myself: This too shall pass!

When I drive myself crazy about getting something perfect I tell myself: Good is good enough.

When I need to feel confident I tell myself a line from Maya Angelou's "Phenomenal Woman": "I'm a woman Phenomenally. Phenomenal woman, That's me."

sweatbee,

What a great question!

Positive affirmation is a great strategy to use when turning negative thoughts into positive and successful self-talk. As sweatbee mentioned, these thoughts can often turn into confidence-boosting and powerful feelings.

Members, who would like to share a positive affirmation that they have used lately? Have you found these successful?

               Hi all,

Just wanted to no if anyone used positive affirmations to help combat the negative thoughts that go
along with panic and anxiety?  I try to use them right before I work on exposure,I have noticed that
it gives me alittle confidence boost.(which I can always use!!)  It would be great if  everyone would
share one of theirs with the forum ! here are two that I like.

Negativity is only a thought and a thought can be changed !

I am a capable person and I can handle anything that comes my way!
