Some insight?

Thank you so much to all that responded! You guys have given me a huge smile on my face, knowing that others understand and have been through it! Thank you!!! Trixie, you sound just like me, its like I feel at any moment my heart will just stop and I'll drop dead. It's very comforting to know that someone else has felt like this and gotten through it.

Roxi...I think therapy may be an answer for me. I am slowly feeling better but had a set back today. My husbands grandmother finally passed on. It's almost a releif though because she was in so much pain and it wasn't such a shock like the other deaths. I am confident that only good things can happen to me from now on! Thanks for your reply:)

Lore...thanks for taking the time to reply, my son is older but I did breastfeed him for a looong time and I think hormones are coming into play with what I have been experiencing. It's just adjusting to all these changes that is so hard.

Barbika....I agree with you in that I think therapy may be the place for me. Thanks for your kind response...

Hi H

You seem to have some mix of post traumatic stress disorder mixed with anxiety/panic. I'm not a doctor, but my experience is very similar to yours. About 7 months ago during a month period i experienced so much...passing of my cousin/unresolved issues with father and lots of traumatic events. These life events affected me to the point where anxiety took over. I did not know at the time why i felt the symptoms of anxiety. And after many months of suffering and going back and forth from Er/Dr when i was finally diagnosed with PTSD and panic disorder. I never took anti depressants as i'm afraid to take medications, but i was ordered to a 10 session cognitive behavioral therapy, which is very helpful to flush off all the anxiety and tension that is built up and thing you weren't able to digest.

So i can definitely advise you to have someone you can talk about these, or a therapist who is trained to flush off all the events that has built up inside you.

Take care

Hello Heathab81,

I'm sorry to hear of the tragedies you had to go through. I have also heard that a lot of imbalances of the hormones occur after giving birth. I have not given birth yet, so I personally don't know. Also I think all the tragedies are having an effect on you. The stresses in life that I've had, felt like they didn't leave much stress on me at the moment they were given to me, but after looking back from a bigger perspective, I really realize that they have been bugging me all along. It's hard to clearly understand what really bugs you.. but time will tell eventually. Therapy may be a good idea, but remember to research the therapist to make sure they know what they're doing. Good luck!

Trixie I love that last quote! Its so true the fear is what keeps us in the circle if we can but realize that the panci attacks are harmless we will be cured!

It seems like youve been through alot lately and therapy might help, it did me. AS far as the heart funny feelings those osund like pvcs, which I have they are harmless esp if the holter picked them up and said that they are, dont worry about them, I used to have 20-60 a day but now I can go days without them!

Hi,

I'm sorry for all of your recent losses. That must be hard.

I noticed that you mentioned rocking your son.  I know that many, many, women begin having panic attacks at some point after giving birth.  That's when mine started, a month or so after giving birth. Sometimes it's as simple as hormones that starts it.  The stress you're feeling now may be contributing.  When I had my second child, there was a problem and even though I was fine, I was put on a heart monitor. After that birth, I was paying too much attention to what my heart was doing for a while, convinced it would just stop.  It didn't. I'm still here.      But that fixation faded away on its own, and as my life got busier, I was fine and didn't have anxiety issues for several years later when in another stressful situation.

Everyone's heart does those funny beats.. happens all the time.  If your doc says you're fine, then you're fine. Our hearts use those funny  beats to regulate the rhythm, if we have too much caffeine, and especially if we don't get enough sleep.  My stepdaughter had those funny beats for 2 weeks straight when she gave up caffeine, and her doc said she's fine.   It's quite possible something hormonal, or just being overly tired, made the attack happen, and the recent events probably gave your mind something to work with thinking that your heart is bad.

My best, unprofessional advice, is to get out more, take more walks, and live your life as fully as possible. It's not the panic attacks that mess with our lives, it's the fear of them.

H,

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your family and friend.
What did your physician say? I am not too sure whether or not the deaths caused your panic, however it is definitely possible that it was a contributing factor to your anxiety.
Members, what do you think? Does anyone have any insight regarding this topic?

So I was trying to put together why my panic attatcks started and was wondering what some of you thought...
Panic started about a month ago, out of nowhere I was rocking my son and I started feeling hot and lightheaded. My heart started racing and it felt like it was going to jump out of my chest. Since then I have had this fear that my heart is bad, that I have some sort of arrythmia or something and that at any moment it could stop. Mind you the week before I had been hiking, going to the gym and all that stuff. Plus I have a little one that I am always chasing and never really felt anything before.

I have experienced some tradgedy in the past few months...my father in law and nephew were killed in a car accident 2 months ago and now my husbands grandmother is dying. Also a friend of the family was killed in a boating accident two weeks ago. Is my panic because of all the deaths I have/ am experiencing? I feel like that has got to be it, and why I have this intense fear of dropping dead at any moment. I am terrified of this especially my heart stopping. I have seen my doc, I had the holter moniter, the doc says I had some funny beats but that most people have them and some are just more sensitive than others. I insisted on seeing the cardiologist who read my moniter report for peice of mind. I asked my doc if she would worry about it if it were her report and she flat out told me no. She gave me some Xanax which helps but is therapy the next step for me? I think the stress of these past months is getting to me....Sorry this is so long, I am just trying to get perspective on my situation and see what others think....

Thanks

H
