Hi,

Thanks for the info.  I'm been on the medication for about 3 weeks.  I going to the doctor today to re-adjust the medication.  Also I have an appointment with a Phycharist in early Dec./08.

WQ,   Welcome to our wonderful support community!    Difficulty breathing and rapid heart beat are common panic attack symptoms.  Have you tried relaxation techniques before bed and as soon as you open your eyes?  Something like deep breathing could be helpful to you.  Getting into the calmest state before bed may keep your anxiety from rebounding in the morning.  It may take a few tries before yourbody gets into the habit of being calm.  Be sure to also use the program.  Session 2 and 3 will teach you to recognize and challenge your thoughts.   How long have you been on your anxiety medications?  In general, most medications take time to build a therapeutic level in your system and as it does, the effect it produces becomes more pronounced and stable.  Perhaps you can speak with your doctor about changing the dosage or medication if you have not been experiencing any benefits for awhile.    Hope that helps.   Karen, Health Educator

Hi,

Thanks for asking.  Yes, I did seek medical attention and my family doctor has ruled out heart problems.

WQ,

Welcome to our support community! You've come to a great place. You'll find a lot of great information which we strongly encourage you to read, along with session tools and homework.

If you're experiencing any type of pain in your chest, you should seek medical attention immediately. It's important that you know the cause of this pain and rule out anything that can be serious or life threatening.

Visit often and let us know how you are doing, we're here to help!

Hi,

I'm new to the site.  I think this is a great site.  I started having panic attacks in the morning before work (6am). I'm taking medication but I find it still difficult to function in the morning (i.e. difficult breathing and heaviness in chest).  Any suggestings would be appreciated.
