Good stuff on handling your sons bully!  As for relaxation techniques, try progressive relaxation.  It's the only one that really works for me, details can be found in the mods corner.  Cheers!

Hi,

Thanks for the support.  I'll continue do the breathing exercises.  Everytime I come to the site, it helps me cope with my anxiety.

Thanks

WQ,

It's great to hear that the bullying issues with your son have been resolved! This can be a huge cause of stress and anxiety.

Keep on working through the PMR and box breathing exercises. Your thoughts can't go faster than your breath, slow relaxed breathing can really help you control your thoughts.

Fill in your symptoms tracker and keep on learning the source of your anxiety. Also take some time to read through the 'Challenging Your Negative Thoughts' Exercise to learn how you can try to break this thought process.

Hi,

The bullying issue with my son has been resolved. I talked with the principal and everything is ok.  I started to see the Phyciatrist about three weeks ago.  Yesterday the Dr. recommended me to stop taking Lorizapam (which I know is addictive).  Today been difficult to get rid of the anxious feelings (moderate).  I tried the PMR and box breathing exercise to help me to relax  It has help but it keeps coming back (anxious feeling).   Any suggestions?

Hi WQ,

Sorry to hear about your son being bullied at school. That can certainly cause further anxiety for you and your son. Hopefully your meeting with the principal will be helpful and focused at finding a solution.

As previously stated by Jhori, the best thing you can do is be loving and supportive but in a way that is motivational and not crippling for your son. As parents, we have to teach children to love themselves and take pride in their strengths. Learning what is unjust and cruel is important so as not to accept it, and also not to repeat it. Are there counsellors at his school who can help in this situation?

Do let us know how things work out and hope this week is a better week for you.

Sorry to hear about your son.  I've had to deal with bullies and the like throughout my life.  Well, one in each place I've lived, and I've moved every 2-4 years since I was born.  This is just a personal point of view, and how you deal is obviously your choice, but the way I learned is through dealing with it on my own.  There was always something extra rewarding when I took it on myself (of course, at first it was much scarier then later...but losing that fear is priceless).  My brother and I used to play tricks on the bullies, or just fought them.  I know it sounds dangerous, but without this, I would probably have to rely on someone to handle my bullies in adulthood.  Maybe teaching him ways to handle the situation will help?  Well, either way, knowing you love him helps him out big time.

The only way I can think of to help your children, is to teach them.  The more they can do on their own, the less you have to worry about.

Hope this helped.  Cheers!

Hi,

I had a little set back yesterday when my oldest son told me he was being bullied at school.  I'll be meeting with principal today to deal with the situation.  My main problem is I worry a lot about my children and especially my oldest son who has mild learning disability.  Is there ways to conquer these types of worries?

Thanks
