Chris,   Welcome to our wonderful online support community!  Good to hear you had a supportive friend to get outside your home... how did the appointment go with the new doctor?    Many people find relaxation techniques like deep breathing and muscle relaxation helpful in stressful and panic situations.    For deep breathing:   1) Take a slow deep breath in through your nose to the slow count of five. Push your tummy out at the same time.

2) Slowly breathe out through your mouth to the count of 7.

3) Repeat this 3 times, as you feel yourself relaxing and the stress dropping away.   Hope this helps.  Members what are some of your favorite stress relievers?

I hear you on the music, I also know a couple people like that.  Most are either so confident in that one way that they feel they don't need to go higher, or afraid of losing the hype they've received from the style they do now.  I was never into the hype, just so long as I feel good about the message...some get it, others get told about it.

Keep up the high hopes man!  And don't be afraid to dig to China if you need to for knowledge, the best stuff is the furthest away.

And I'm still trying to figure out how to explain the whole anxiety thing to my dad.  He's the old fashion Samurai style thought process, can't nobody tell him what's up or down.  So cheers to you for being able to do that, maybe I'll try again tonight...

well im no awesome guitar player,it's just that i have allot of friends that are way better player's than i but, they only play one style. So i guess to each there own Andreas Segovia had influence on Steve vi so the story goe's............the only complaint i would say i have on music or musician's is that from being in so many band's with people that had extreme talent they wouldnt bend just a little to get to the next step.Thats always been a problem even in cover bands i was in ?Anywho i just got through the first session of the course on here and looking foward to completing it.I am also in the process of completing mt blog and data or personal info. But today was a pretty good day for the first time in about 9 weeks i was able to get a clear thought and picture of my future and it was a good feeling still havent found a job yet,but i know it will come in due time.the thing with me is; up untill my last attack the docs never really gave me a clue as to what was going on with me other than g.a.d take these meds and see me in a month .So i figured i would research on it this time and it has opened alot of doors i never knew existed.some of my family doesnt agree with all the research ive been doing but they dont feel anxiety or depression or derealization to the extreme i do and yet it is so easy to see? my mom had to drag me to the doctors office this time also my wife but they dont really see that a grown man is acting like a child scared to get a flue shot.In there eyes its kinda of funny and i could see why it would look kinda of funny but when its happening to us its not funny at all' but they are starting to understand. the more i learn the more i share my knowledge with everyone else and in some circumtances have openend up some doors for them also.

Nice, Chris!  See, I'm very similar...though I can't play everything, or anything with an instrument for that matter, I definitely am into everything under the sun.  I always thought those stuck to a particular genre heard something in that genre that affected them, that or they are just partial to that style.  Though I agree that spreading your knowledge base around is vital to understanding the whole picture, I think those that stick to particular styles can improve on what is there and sometimes even create something new out of it.  Exploration is cool like that, there is no such thing as one path...so one can never go wrong, whichever way they go.

Hi Chris and welcome to our support community. As you can see their is lots of support and knowledge from the members.  Please take a look at the program to guide you and assist you in breaking the cycle and challenging those negative thoughts.  Our program will deal with exposure therapy and how to progress step by step.   Do check the Mod's Corner for information and topic of interest.  You can also type in the word "stress" under search messages and find great ways to deal with stress and stressors.

Hey Chris, welcome to the board!

I know exactly where you're coming from, been dealing with agoraphobia for about 5 years now, about 2 years ago I was at that point where it was hard as steel to get out.  Best thing to do is go through the program here, and the board is great for questions or anything you want out there.

Check out the mod's corner for helping with stress release and the like, they have some pretty good methods for dealing.  And to my knowledge, what causes panic attack/phobia's is pretty much on the person.  Well, this could be just my case, but I was unconsciously building myself up for the attacks, and held myself down so the anxiety lasted longer then it had to.  I learned to challenge these thoughts through the program here, and feel a lot better about who I am...and more in control.

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of music do you play?

Cheers!
