I just posted a music video of India Arie. The video is o.k., but I really love the lyrics so here it is.

[1st verse]
back when I had a little
I thought that I needed a lot
a little was overrated
but a lot was a little too complicated
see, zero didn't satisfy me
a million didn't make me happy
that's when I learned the lesson
that it's all about your perception
hey, are you a copper or a superstar
so you act, so you feel, so you are
it ain't about the size of your car
it's about the size of the faith in your heart

[Chorus]
(there's hope)
it doesn't cost a thing to smile
you don't have to pay to laugh
you better thank God for that...there's hope
[2x]

[2nd verse]
from the back country of Brazil
I met a young brother that made me feel
that I could accomplish anything
you see just like me he wanted to sing
he had no windows and no doors
he lived a simple life and was extremely poor
on top of all of that he had no eye-sight
but that didn't keep him from seeing the light
he said "what's it like in the U.S.A.?"
and all I did was complain
he said "living here is paradise" he taught me
paradise is in your mind you know that...

[Chorus]
(there's hope)
it doesn't cost a thing to smile
you don't have to pay to laugh
you better thank God for that...there's hope
[2x]

[Bridge 1]
everytime I turn on the tv (there's hope)
somebody is acting crazy (there's hope)
you bet that it'll drive you crazy (there's hope)
but i'm taking back my power today (there's hope)
gass prices they just keep on rising (there's hope)
the government they keep on lying
we gotta keep on surviving
keep livin' our truth and do the best we can do
'cause there's hope

[Chorus]
(there's hope)
it doesn't cost a thing to smile
you don't have to pay to laugh
you better thank God for that...there's hope
[2x]

Bridge 2
stand up for your right (stand up for your right)
keep shining your light (keep shining your light)
and show the world your smile (show the world your smile)
[2x]

Chorus
(there's hope)
it doesn't cost a thing to smile
you don't have to pay to laugh
you better thank God for that...there's hope
[2x]

I have : Believe in yourself and you will succeed" I know it sounds corny, but I got that in a fortune cookie.  I stuck it on my computer so I can read it when i'm at the desk.  Also I have this one..well its a sticker " People have one thing in common, the yare all different" " Be Bold" " this is me!"
"just be yourself"..I stuck them all over my monitor.:)

I found some old quotes... thought they may be of some help.

Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

Everyone sees who you seem to be, few understand who you really are.

You don't have to hold on to the pain to hold on to the memory.

People don't change, they become more of who they are.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Some think it's holding on that makes one strong, sometimes it's letting go.

Experience is the hardest teacher. First she gives the test, then the lesson.

Actually, the lyrics maybe by someone else but was, yes, composed by Charlie Chaplin. Awesome man.

And I never would've guessed that it was penned by Charlie Chaplin.  Some great trivia.

SMILE by Charlie Chaplin!!!

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying

Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

That's the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

we just had a couple of musicians blow through town who are winners of "new thought' songwriting awards.  Their lyrics are very self affirming and positive.  the group's name was Devotion and the lady singer was Lori Sandstrom.  They do travel around the country so they may be coming to your town soon.  They held a workshop but I was experiencing too much anxiety getting up close and personal with the group there but their music is infectious and a great source of positive messages.
