Common Phobias

15 years ago 0 9 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0

Hi, I fear flying in large planes, my dad had a small plane and I  loved flying with him, I think it's the lack of controll that scares me. I fear heights, especially over water.elevators although I can get on them when I must. I don't like spiders, the dentist or thunderstorms, but I can cope with them. Need a tooth out now and have been putting it off. Open spaces like the ocean scare me, I plan on taking the ferry next summer for our vacation and i'm already fretting about it. I work myself up over things, like going in a boat but usually have a great time once i get going.

Hello

I fear spiders, heights, speed, panic attacks!!, and like birdie, wide and crowded spaces. I notice I'm afraid when the freeways are empty with no cars only ours yet, I hate traffic and being in a swarm of people. And of course, I also fear speaking in front of a crowd or new people.

Hi

I too have a fear of heights..but truly I'm afraid of freezing at the dentist and being put to sleep for an operation... Those things just about make me throw up...

These are actual phobias... I have a ton of fears I could add... lol.. but I won't...

Thanks for sharing.

It's strange for me.  I guess it is enclosed spaces and open spaces.  One morning my husband and I had to travel by car, it was foggy and it actually comforted me because I could only see about a block around us.  It was kind of peaceful.  Then let's say if I'm in a small classroom with people I can get claustraphobic (I have no idea how to spell that, sorry). I guess social anxiety is mixed in there too, cause something involving other people ads to my anxiety, whereas I do the same thing alone or with someone safe and I'm better.

I really only have a fear of heights from that list (besides my eating anxiety.)  There's this one stretch of highway that we travel on frequently to visit my fiancee's parents that has no barricades and is a straight drop down on the side.  That's the worst part of the trip for me, my anxiety is through the roof!

We're making plans to not visit in winter anymore, the pass is absolutely horrible and unbelievably unsafe, there's always at -least- one accident during the winter where a vehicle goes over.  Black ice and whatnot.

Hello Charlie , im not suprised you are scared of storms thats a pretty terrifying experience . You should talk to Minnesota she is doing so well with her fear of storms atm .

Im absolutely hate spiders to the point of being ill . Had so many bad experiencies with the horrible things too , they seem to love me . If the room was full with people its me they dash to/run past . Even on me three times .

I'm scared of spiders, but storms scare me the most i find when i hear theres a storm coming i'm checking the weather all day, i mean i'm watching the weather channel and nothing else until the storm passes.I was stuck in a storm 3 years ago coming back from camping it came out of no where and of course there had to be a tornado with it we had to pull over on the highway with everyone else,we had the brakes to the floor and the van in park and we were still moving i was terrified!!!I loved to go camping but since that happened i don't trust the weather and haven't gone since:(!!
