Diva,

That is great that your safe people will be travelling with you. I know that it is still a huge feat for you, but it at least is good to know that you are going to be with people you can count on. You are going to do so great, and I know you are going to have a great time!
Minnesota, great tips! Does anybody else have any travelling tips for Diva?

Hi Diva, take your mp3 player, and a camera:) take pictures.  I find taking pictures calms me a bit, but thats odd I know.  As for new cities, I can understand your fear. If you are with someone you know, hold their hand and just keep walking, I do that with my hubby, and then after a while I let go and wander off by myself, when I know i'm ok.   I went to London England, by myself.  I was sent on a computer course, when I was working at Macy's buying office in Israel.  I met a bunch of people there and we did the course and saw some sites.   It was a great experience.  Once you are on the bus for a while, it will be easier, if you are nervous, close your eyes, and listen to your music.
I find audio books really comforting, they are great to listen to and put me to sleep in an instant.  You can get them for free at the library. I hope my rambling helps.

Diva,

Way to go! Good for you for taking on this challenge. I'm sure you are going to do great, and I'm sure you are going to have a great time! Are you going to be travelling by yourself?

Hi Diva,
I think it's great that you are taking up this challenge. I am planning to fly *eek* to another country next year, but what makes me want to go is the thought of all the new things I'll get to see and new memories I can create for myself. I totally know what you mean about the hospitals!!! I always feel so relieved when I see a hospital sign on the road. What I remind myself is that if I'm in such a deserted place where the city is nowhere to be found, in case of emergencies there are helicopters that can come to my rescue. Also I remind myself of alllll those times I felt nasty from anxiety there was never a time I needed extreme urgent care.  It also helps for me when I make myself realize that I am doing what I'm fearing and I try to soak in the small things like, the different people on the bus, the bumpy road, the scenery and other cars....
Anyways, good luck!!!!! You can do it! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Hi Diva: I think you should be proud of yourself for taking on this challenge. I know that I struggle with holidays or any unstructured time.  Weekends, summer holidays, Christmas holidays are tough. Can anyone else relate to this? My husband mentioned last night that he would like to book a cruise for next year and I am already stressing about it. I don't think we give ourselves enough credit for toughing situations out. Often thinking about the upcoming event is harder than participating in the event-all that anticipatory anxiety. Remember that you really are a strong capable person and you have accomplished many goals in spite of your anxiety. I know you will be fine and look forward to reading your success story post! Take care

Hiya guys,

Here is my new challenge. I am travelling to the states soon! I am going away for 4-5 days. Am going to be travelling by bus! I am sooo scared! I will be away from everything I know! I am not so good with the unknown. Or with situations where I perceive I have little control. You can see how this terrifies me! Plus I am going to a major city which means busy streets and such! The travelling is the part that scares me most. Inside the City, I figure it is not worse then a major city around here. There will be everything I am used to including hospitals lol. Yes I said hospital. I am afraid of being away from hospitals. Makes no sense since I have not been to the hospital in ages but there it is the proximity and capacity of going to a hospital reassures me. But on the road, stuck on the bus for hours on end without stopping for a day's drive on a highway with very little control over my life and no hospitalks in sigh scare the **** out of me! But I do not want to chicken out! I want to travel! I want to see new things and enjoe myself!

Anyway, so if any of you have anything reassuring to say to me, tricks you have acquired over time. Anything! Thank you!
