Myth Or Fact?

I have benefitted from gradual exposure to the working environment.  Support around coping with the more "stressful aspects" and ongoing strengthening of tolerance and endurance, both physical and mental.

If modelled against the graduated exposure model of the program,  one can adapt to the work environment.  I imagine it depends on coworkers though ultimately one does need to learn how to tolerate and endure trying personalities too.

Myth: People with mental illnesses cannot tolerate the stress of holding down a job.

Fact: In essence, all jobs are stressful to some extent. Productivity is maximized when there is a good match between the employee’s needs and working conditions, whether or not the individual has mental health needs.
