Exposure Planning Session 4

Wow, Birdie, thanks for the encouraging accomplishment news. And thanks cornish-dee. Today, I felt a little anxious in the morning because I was having some discomfort in my chest again. But I went for a walk, which is another one of my goals to do. I wasn't able to go around the whole block but I did go around the area where my house was still visable. I also went around the block of my house, driving, and even where there are traffic lights. (I am usually ok with this, but I figure practice is always good anyway. Baby steps.)

Miki, Good luck on the exposure planning! Honestly I find those accomplishments so satisfying! I'm not to this level yet in the program but when I was your age I had a real problem with driving. I literally took one mile at a time and would reward myself for each accomplishment, like stopping for coffee or buying something small just a little pick me up. It felt great and proved that I could do it. I also kept a journal of just my accomplishments and I was surprised at how fast I filled a page. I have since driven a 14 hour trip and many other wonderful things when I really thought that was impossible. I'm only a few weeks into this program but am finding it very helpful!!! (I'm working on some other avoidances issues.)Rooting for you!!!!! Birdie

Well, I have gone through the program a while back. But I remember session 4. I founs exposure really scary a first, but it is definetely a great tool and it has helped me so much. I have a few exposure goals myself for the summer. I figure, why not conquer some more fears :) I think it's a great goal you set for yourself! Keep us posted! -Diva

Hello everyone. I'm on session 4 for exposure planning. Has anyone got there yet? It also says in this session and I think it would be a good idea to update my progress with this exposure planning on this forum so that everyone can see with me how well I can progress with this exposure thing. One of the goals I've planned to work on is: Driving to school by myself. School is about 8 miles/ 20 mins from home. I will start on Monday and update how far I can get by practicing everyday for about an hour of driving.. and let's see how far I can go.
