Hold on a minute JohnnyO . Let me get this right , you were turned down because you hadnt worked enough in the last 5 years . ( cover your ears a minute SCREAMMMMMMMMMMMMM) .
Thats better . Let me see, the reason you hadnt worked enough is because of the disability for crying out loud . This makes me so mad . Need i say anymore ?
I agree with you , its so tiring constantly working on your anxiety . But fear giving up trying more if you understand what i mean .
And I can attest after trying to continue to be a productive member of society for a number of years with no success and finally applying for a disability pension, they claimed I wasn't eligible because I hadn't worked enough in the 5 years preceding my application. I know, that's how long it took me to finally accept that the disease was greater than my ability to manage it.
I guess it can be considered a blessing that I am aware of just how many people do struggle with one form of health issue or another so it is less unusual to be dealing with something, though the mental illness still does not have the broad acceptance that a physical ailment will recieve.
I'm also aware of how tired some people can get when they are constantly working to manage their illness, unable to relax for fear that a relapse is just over the horizon if they let up on their diligence. I continue to desire improvement so realize that it does take effort on my part to practice the CBT techniques.
Of all persons with
disabilities, those with a serious mental illness face the highest degree of
stigmatization in the workplace, and the greatest barriers to employment. Many
and varied employment obstacles face adults with psychiatric disabilities, such
as gaps in work history, limited employment experience, lack of confidence,
fear and anxiety, workplace discrimination and inflexibility, social stigma and
the rigidity of existing income support/benefit programs.
