I get horrid gas stomach acid reflux attacks and then get scared to eat in case I get another one. My Doctor put me on Digestive enzymes and that really helped but as soon as I got flu--last week and went on antibiotics --Back came the acid reflux and the panic attacks with a vengeance..

Sky More eating today. a six inch sub after my psych appt. Psych said to take it slowly. He thinks right now I am just having a residual effect from the vicious cycle. You have been really encouraging thank you again. =0)

Sky you have been a huge help. I was actually considering the baby food. I tried ensure it sucked. I have been drinking propel water cause it has vitamins. I am lactose intolerant and thus milk is hard to digest so the dr's suggestion of carnation breakfast drinks is hard. She said its ebtter tasting than ensure and will give me the protein my body needs. She also suggested peanut butter sandwiches. This anxiety relapse began cause of going on high cholestrol meds. SO in the back of my mind I wanna watch what I eat so that doesn't go screwier than it was before. Since I have gotten off the cholestrol meds till I get the anxiety under control (yes under dr advicement too lol). My biggest fear with food and drink is if I have an attack I will vomit and/or have diarrhea (which I have regardless). The dr believes I have a touch of IBS with the anxiety this time so I have been taking immodium for it. But back to vomiting I am afraid if I were to have an attack I'd vomit and than wouldn't be able to keep down the tranq's that help me through the attacks. That's where it began 4 weeks ago anyway. Haven't had this fear with my attacks in a long time. I have an aversion to the smell of food and looking at it etc....somedays its as bad as being pregnant again. (nope not pregnant they've tested me 5 times in a month for that lol) I did eat 2 slices of pizza tonight telling myself "food is good". I am just at a loss. I do know I have to get my nutrition up in order to properly fight this relapse. Thank you for the tips and also for letting me know I am not alone in this "fear of food". The one dr asked me if I was anorexic......I was like no. Its not like I am concerned with my weight furthest thing from my mind.

Oh yeh, something else protein bars and drinks and stuff like that are wonderful. It is pricey unfortunately. But a big tin of the powder stuff lasts for ever. Just add milk or water to a couple of spoons of it. I warm it up too, I find I'm calmer eating/drinking warm things. Also, sounds a bit kooky, but baby food, highly recommend that too. It's easy to digest and it's good for you! I've read a lot of your posts and recognise the harsh time you've had. So, hope I've been of some help to you. :)

Hi, yeup, I have this fear of eating and drinking too. It’s become my biggest fear with panic attacks. Sucks how something as simple as eating/drinking can become such a massive big deal! I went through a period of not eating or eating next to nothing. I’m still having the same fear. It’s better than what it was though. You just have to force yourself to eat. I eat mostly soups, yogurt, fruit and oats. Things that are easy to digest. I’m now slowly introducing richer spicier foods. Set up some kind of baby step plan. So when you wake up make it your goal to eat one of something else. For every pretzel you eat have a mouthful of something else. Then the next day do the same with another food and so on. To build up your appetite again try one mouthful of something each hour. So lets say you introduce yogurt. (something with a long shelf life dried fruit is good too) Increase the amount every hour by at least one mouthful. Then the next day do the same but this time replace every hour with every half hour. This is what I’ve done. I have weak days where I don’t eat much at all. It’s better than what it was though. Eating properly makes such a big difference to anxiety. Do you know why you’re afraid to eat? My fear is choking and/or vomiting. Take care and good luck. -Sky xx

Anyone else have a symptom where you can eat while anxious?? I am seriously having to force myself to eat and drink. I have lost 30 pounds in 4 weeks. I am up to drinking gatorade or Misty Slush's from Dq and eating soft pretzels but that is it.
